This issue of who was behind Trump's desire to march to the Capitol with his protesters is perhaps not fully appreciated. It's not known if it was Trump's idea or if someone else told him to do it.

It matters in the context of Trump's mental status on Jan. 6 and what he intended to happen at the Capitol that day.

It's an issue in the context of the responsibility of a president to protect members of Congress and the public, to not incite a dangerous situation like a riot, and to not knowingly contribute to it by not acting to stop it.

Meadows tried to dismiss Trump's desire to march by saying that Trump was speaking only metaphorically about marching along with his protesters during his pre-riot rally speech at the Ellipse.

Yet Trump was upset that the Secret Service refused to drive him to the Capitol to be with his protesters, which indicates the plan was real and not metaphorical.

Trump was informed by the Secret Service that some of his protesters were armed, yet he dismissed the concerns.

No permit wasn't issued for such a march. No venues were available to legally contain thousands of protesters at or near the Capitol.

Trump didn't seem concerned about such facts.

Challenging the woke bogeyman to make liberals angry is currently more important to many GOP voters than their jobs, houses, businesses, and farms.

Trump says it was just newspaper clippings.

Newspaper clippings from the Defense Department that he said he could have declassified when he was president but can't now.
