well, i havnt seen the film. but the stage show is absolutely AMAZING! such powerful music. i love it! It annoys me when occasionally you get a religious person that dismisses it without even trying it out, it is not blasphomous in anyway and i think every1 should see it! Jen xxx
i love the old movie, the one where it starts with actors arriving in a bus... that movie is so powerful, it's amazing! and they're all hippies too! it ends with the cross in the skyline, and all the actors getting back into the bus, apart from Jesus.... dude
I love this movie! The music alone is great... "Why should you want to know, why are you obsessed with fighting? Times and fates you can't defy?" on and on of course. I completely forgot about this movie so thank you for bringing it up. I also saw this on stage with the Indigo Girls playing Jesus and one of the other main characters, I don't remember who, it was many, many, many moons ago. I thought that was a good tribute to what the movie tried to get across. And is Godspell in a movie form? I've only seen it on stage.
I have it on Dvd hey, im sure if you hunt around enough it'll turn up...it's really very good. You saw it on stage?! Oh wow, how was that?
I honestly don't even remember. It has been probably 10 years since I saw it. I'm sure it was good. I only remember ever going to two or three productions that were unbarable.
yeah, my mum choreographed godspell once and she never stops going on about it! i havnt seen it myself but from what she sez its pretty powerful stuff. is it the one with the song "day by day" in it? jen xxx
I hate Jesus Christ Superstar but I saw a live version of Godspell and it was good. The one chick in it was super sexy too.
I saw the Jesus Christ Superstar stage play musical, it was great! I love musicals! *everything´s allright, yes everything´s fine*
It's a great movie. Extremely fun to watch and yet intruguing and message-bearing. I love how the movie concentrates on Jesus and the rest as persons instead of just god and his almighty power, or "omnipresent brain" as Jesus called it... I think that part of the message from the movie is even seemingy evil actions have good intentions behind them. And so on and so forth. "Why are you obsessed with fighting?"
The movie is great! The most amazing moment is when many many "sick people" are gathered around Jesus .. cool music! Try not to get worried try not to turn on to.. problems that observe you oh.. don't you know everything's all right yes everything's fine.. and it's cool and the ointment is sweet.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... I love her voice!!!
i have seen the play twice and the movie a few times, i dug the updated version of the play i saw last year.
I've seen the play done twice, and I've seen the movie 109348648956 times. I just bought the dvd, actually. I'm absolutely in love with it.
the play is much better than the movie, but both are great. I first saw JCS at the fox theater in atlanta, its morrocan theme and night sky overhead gave it a very good space to perform, and it was very much like seeing christ as he may have appeared. I had the good fortune to meet and become friends with Ted and Carl, both of whom performed their roles a little too well at times! I had a grand time clubbing with them in memphis, and was nearly arrested in nashville. If Ted is any indication, Jesus is co-pilot cause he dont drive so good!!! Ted is now doing theater work in california and lives in texas. Carl Anderson, sadly, passed away in the past year or two of leukemia. Ted began his acting by playing Claude in the original LA production of HAIR, and lots of older hippies seem to know him from that.
you have nothing in your hands, any power you have comes to you from far beyond. everything is fixed and you cant change it!!!! i love jcs... i love it... listen to it years after years...
