I have been reading the forums and have noticed a lot about pit bulls. They are a very controversial dog! Whatever your view on this particular breed please remember that they are a living creature... not all creatures are pretty fluffy friends some don’t get the chance to be the ideal animal... Keep in mind that Pitt Bulls are often inbreed leading to aggressiveness... They were originally breed to be fighters but many have actually had this breed out, some people say that this is not possible and an aggressive breed is aggressive but all dogs originated from wolves yes even you fluffy little puppies ancestor is a wolf... I had a pit bull almost tear my thumb off to say the least, this experience terrified me and forced me to view them as evil dogs… but after rescuing a pit puppy my view changed completely… I now own two pit mixes that once I saved from a horrible life.. The owners had 6 puppies in a 50 gallon fish tank I could only save one and the other 5 died I also have a pit mix from the humane society… my dogs have never once shown a sign of temper I also have three cats and a small corn snake, one of my cats was stuck in a hole my oldest pit searched and searched till she found her she wouldn’t even come inside until she had found her beloved cat… the cat has since taken up cleaning both the dogs… I am not trying to say that pits cant be mean … I am just saying that they can be nice… weather its genetic, obedience, love, or any other factor that goes into a animal… they all turn out differently just like us humans… Don’t judge the whole pack by just a few examples… if we all did that what would the entire world view all of us as…. Be open-minded.. And do not wish harm on any creature… Peace
Good girl, you sound nice and I agree with you in most if not all of what you have typed. My dog thanks you
Yup.. good story. Although it is basically a conclusion of what that whole pitbull thread was about But nonetheless.. it's the truth I wonder though.. dogbreeds can be pushed in certain directions.. for example.. German-bred Dashunds (don't know if that's the correct name in english.. I mean the sausages with legs ) are bred for hunting.. while the Dutch ones are bred for their looks and social character. The consquence is that when you unleash a German bred one in the forrest.. he takes of trying to find a rabbit or whatever.. while a Dutch one will stay more close to you. Selective breeding can happen in character (even within the same breed) as well as appearance (eg. color). I wonder what that's like with the 'fighting spirit' of certain breeds..
That is a very good point to bring up -- while you can't breed "fighting instinct" into a line, you can breed aggression. However, the aggression can come in many forms. Food agression, people aggression, dog aggression. An aggressive dog may not always whelp an aggressive pup -- there would just be a higher chance. That is why care should be taken when breeding two dogs. The dogs should not be aggressive (This of course does not include the working ability of a breed. Sometimes assertiveness or extreme working ability can be called aggression as well. For instance German shepherds are aggressive, as in they are assertive; dominant; testing). I agree with the above statements. Pit bulls are very nice dogs. You get the odd one that does something bad, and suddenly people are all over it. Yesterday they finally decided to ban pit bulls in Ontario, as well as all bully breeds and bully mixes. A sad day for Canada, and I am ashamed to live in a country that calls it self the most peaceful country. Peace does not come with racism, and it does not come with breedism.
