Something happened around the stove pipe when the new roof was tied into the existing roof and our roof and attic space caught. We are all fine but theres a hole in the roof and some water damage in the house but we put it out ourselves....no county water out here and only a volunteer fire dept. 15 miles away...... I'm just still shaking...it happened yesterday morning....couldn't sleep last night. I'll be back on later. Just had to let it out.
Man, Teepi..I'm so sorry to hear that. I bet you were scared shitless. I'm so glad you're ok. Did it do very much damage??
When I lived back east,I heated my house with wood.It cost me an arm and a leg,but I bought the double wall insulated stovepipe to make it safer.I'm glad I did.I hope you and Larry are okay.Roofs can be rebuilt.
Teepi, I'm so sorry to hear about the fire. I'm thankful no one was hurt, Bless your hearts. Y'all worked so hard on that room. I have a plan that will help you. I hope you don't mind. I'm taking it upon myself to get the ball rolling. I know how much you are loved here and how highly your thought of, you n Larry. So please just sit back and let me do this for you. LOVE LOVE LOVE will find a way.
Teepi, I am very sorry but don't be sad! Remember, that everything BAD happens for somethin' GOOD. Sometimes it seem's to be imposible, but I believe in it. Good luck!
Holy Kee-Rap, Teepi! Glad you didn't burn the whole damned place down! Glad also that you're both ok, shaken... maybe bakin', but reasonably ok. You two are handy-dandy though, and I have no doubt that you already have a canvas cover over that hole. Time and work will take care of the rest. Let me know if you need more than a friendly word or two, will ya? Love, Good Thoughts... and a good wind to blow out that smoke odor. I know it's more than that with a fire, and I don't to what extent the smoke damage is, but since I've stopped smoking herb I have a little more wind ... Here's a little bit of a clean breeze... to you and Larry, from me and Ken....
I'm so sorry to hear about this Teepi...yikes...I'm so glad you and Larry weren't hurt...love ya' much...sending love and light your way...you'll hear from me soon...
Thanks so much my friends... All is fine, and as our new friend on here said, I too believe it all happens for a reason. The thing is...we were supposed to have already left for town but I didn't wrap 2 paintings that I had to mail so we were still here and I was just about done wrapping when Larry came out of the bedroom and looked up at the stove pipe and yelled "GET THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!!!!!!"..... The ceiling was on fire around where the stove goes up but just a tiny bit..he zapped that then pulled the firebox thing down and we saw the flames up on the attic/crawlspace rafters. We ran outside and flames were comining up out of the roof..up he went and I was handing him buckets up of water. He grabbed the chainsaw and made another hole.... Then I ran to the green house and got the pump sprayer I feed my plants with and he was able to stick his head and arms down into the roof and spray down everything. Yes we did move the stove to the other side of the house as there were too many joists and rafters and the top plate for the addition it was all around the same area as the pipe. SO SCARY!!! I couldn't sleep at all last night until the fire was out in the stove and I can't look at the pictures I took yet. We were both sick all day yesterday..nerves and adreniline I guess. Mary started a fund on another thread for us but we are OK and those of you who know me(SAM!!) do know that we wasted no time getting it back together. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes. I knew I would feel better after sharing this with you. You all hold a special place in my heart, LOVE, Teepi
What an awful thing, glad you both are ok~!! If it was going to happen, better now and the way it did. It could have been totally devistating had y'all been gone or asleep *whew!* I know you must indeed be shaken. I have a kerosene heater i have to use to defrost the pipes under the house, thought it was fine and left for about a half hr. Came back to a smoke filled house, was sure the back of it had to be on fire. Just a shitty heater but I remember how it scared the holy shit outta me and that wasn't the real deal.
Teepi, Huggsss, I'm so happy to hear all is well after the smoke cleared. I hope you forgive my jumping the gun, so to speak on starting a fund, but I know how devastating a fire can be, My mama's house burnt down several yrs ago and I remember the sick feeling I had as all her/our memories went up in flames.(she was not at home at the time). I just wanted you n Larry know how much we care about you. If ever you have a need, you know where to find the sulution. Love Sister I was thinking, as I do on occation, that it may be a good idea, or at least an idea. The idea was, and may have already been addressed, that we, the ones of the forums that are into this sort of things ask Skip if it would be possible to start up a donation fund for worthy causes, emergencies like fires and such for the members in standing. When there is a bonafide need, a vote or investigation be done to authenicate the valaditity of the need. I know the love in here is strong and there are people that would be honour'd to help in a time of need, a sort of paying it forward for all the blessings we have. Apart of the Doing and not just spectating. It's about being part of the ALL and giving what is needed for the ALL to contenue to exsist. There are a lot of us and a little from each would add up fast. But maybe that's too heavy. I don't know. It's a lot of work and I don't know if Skip and Co. have the time or want to be responsible for it... Well I didn't say it was a perfect idea, just an idea. I'll sit back down now. LOVE LOVE LOVE
TAke care of yourself, sweetie...I'm glad all is well..do what you need for you...to calm the nerves and feel safe again! Luv ya'! Sus
Thanks Mary and everyone and yes SUS, I am taking it easy for a few days...."you may see me tonight with an illegal smile". Things are calming down and construction is continuing. Larry went into the new room today as we had closed it up since the fire and all you could smell was BURN... Just to know you are all here with support means so much...thank you friends. Teepi
Peace Teepe, i am very glad to know you guys are alright. we have had many fires some big and some small so i know how you feel. keep smilin and remeber later on you will look back and laughin about this! keep warm and safe. later the tired flower child
Right on WE...we moved the stove and put up a new triple walled kind of box. We also put cement board on both walls surrounding the woodstove, its in a corner now. The only thing I want to see go up in smoke is my scooby DOOBY doo....
Isn't it good that you were detained by art! I'm glad you're safe! Whenever I'm slowed down or detoured by something,I feel it's to keep me from harms way. That's a good idea S.H.!
