Hey everyone. *waves* I start uni at the end of this year (as you know) and im jobless for now as my cd shop i worked for got closed down in feb Basically no one will employ me because i start uni this year. Also i dont want to work in a commited placement. The other week i helped Dandy where she worked and did a days work there. I realised that by doing temp work with different people i could earn a few scraps of money to keep me going and experiance loads in the mean time. I came up wit han idea of traveling about and doing temp work with different people i know who need people to help out with them. I gues this could be taken in a really rude way for me to be asking this, but is anyone up for giving me a hand, as in if any of you know someone looking for someone to work for them for a few days or something at anypoint during this summer and dont mind me cotching over with them (or know of a cheap place for me to cotch) i would be really grateful. For exapmle i might be going down to Tangmere (chichister) later this summer to help my auntie do the playscheme near her, now i dont think i will be payed for this as i think its voulenteer work but i will be stayng with her and things so its not so bad. ... ..please tell me if this is a really rude wthing for me to ask you all :S Its just i see you all as such good friends and i trust you all so..i thought it would be ok to ask. *looks a bit meek* Thanks for reading Fleassy xox
Well.....I hear there's a bookshop managers' job going near me, it seems fairly temporary!!! Can't help you out Fleass, but it's certainly not rude or cheeky to ask everyone, you know they'll help if they can!! The secret to getting a temporary job tho' is to not tell your potential employer that you're going to uni, not that I'd endorse lying....... Good luck anyways, I'm sure you'll be fine, the Universe will provide!
Being a 'general assistant' in Youth Hostels appears to be quite lucrative. They don't expect people to be around for long, and the money's fucking excellent considering you basically have no bills other than food.
Hmm... I help out at a playscheme every year... Only £10 for the week but it's pretty kool (lie and say you're under 18 or they won't pay you)
well if your ever bored... am sure my mum would easily pay you a tenner to hover and polish the house everyweek....... she's already been begging me and my sis *sigh*... i dare say she'll even pay travel fee's she's that desperate! hang on let me check.... *shouts mum* all i got was a "oOOoooo i dunno... depends where there coming from and how much" oh well..... But if your ever up around the north... pop in... do some house work.... for a few hours easily earn £20-£30 and you'd get a free trip out somewhere at the end of the day with big apart from that... sowwwy... just keep seeling things on Ebay *hugs*
Pretty much everything, really. Cooking, cleaning, front-of-house etc etc. The advantages are the money, the people (usually a good mix of folks working there as well as those visiting) and stunning locations.
*looks embarise ... i dont actually know what a yuouth hostal is *blush* And Moonie, indeed i would always be up for comeing up for any reason, but as you mentioned travel costs are high and a barrier. You know when ever i have the money and time i will come up to visit/...just to see Big of course
it talks about volunteering, but to voulenteer its fre, it sounds like a wikkid place to work for though.
wikkid i'll look into it you think its possible to work for them just for a few weeks? cos i just worked out around all the festivals and stuff i dont get a large amount of free time (over a week) untill september:s arg :S this is pooy i got a whole summer full and no time to earn money hmmm maybe i should just try and work for my parents or something.
yo fleassy, i need to make sum cash quick so over the next 4 weeks im gona try and do loads of sales..clothes and junk and stuff...ive got to cut down my amount of possessions before uni and i need the money..i know you have been selling stuff on ebay and you probably get more on there but if you wana join me you are very welcome...im gona try and get into as many table top/car boot sales at the weekends as possible. also i dont mind selling sum of your stuff for you at sales if you are away at the solstice and glasto.. let me know xxxxx
Try dialogue direct. You travel round the country, fundraising for charity in various towns and cities. they're always recruiting. I did a similar job but for the company Fruitful (Fruitful stay in one region)
you could just not actually tell them your going to uni!!! That way you could just get a shitty shelf stcking job at a supermarket or something?! I know it's telling a bit of a lie, but if your working at some massive company like Tesco, i'm sure they won't really care, haha!!! Just a though!!! Good luck x x x x x
