The coal miners, auto workers, and farmers who have been struggling and following Trump for the past eight years can have great faith in a centerpiece of his 2024 platform.

They can take solace in knowing that he won't allow free speech rights to be taken away from bakers because he will give them the power to decline a customer's request for pink and blue frosting on a cake if the baker thinks it's for a transgender person.

Trump took a significant risk with the hush money scheme for someone who claimed he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any votes.

By Trump's metrics, he could have shot Stormy Daniels on Fifth Avenue and not lost votes, and almost certainly not have lost votes over an issue as flimsy as having an affair with her many years earlier.

 

That was a post in February 2018 about a payment that seemed suspicious at a time before the facts surfaced.

But it turned out to be correct.

Cohen and Trump weren't being truthful at the time, although that wasn't verified until Cohen was convicted in August 2018 and after a blunder of an interview on TV when Giuliani admitted that Trump knew about the payments.

Knowing the history of Trump's behavior and the murkiness of the Daniels transaction, it wasn't unreasonable to think that he was behind the scheme, even before more facts emerged.
