kid, you must see the ORIGINAL ring, which was made in japan first. it will blow you away and make the american version look like SH*T. it's called "ringu." rent it. the american version is mediocre compared to the original. the japanese version has about 5 sequels. i haven't seen any of those...either way, view the first and second "ringu" movies before viewing the american ones.

p.s. maybe i just sounded totally pretentious...but when it comes to films, i am...heehee. <---film geek

Why would they ruin the success of the remake of The Ring with a sequel. I'm getting very tired of all these overplayed "scary" movies that have been coming out of the the past few months. Are the people in Hollywood incredibly brain dead or are these movies just "in" now?

At least Verbinski isnt coming back to direct and Hideo Nakata is. Hopefully he will try to keep how he rather than hollywood wants it. though what is with the "horror" flicks being pg-13 these days? bowing to social pressures? or is the mainstream trying to cop out...who knows?

American horror film directors should take a class taught by Japanese shock horror masters.

I agree that Ringu was better

I saw Ringu, I couldn't stop laughing. SOOO bad. It was a long time ago, but all I remember was the lady running offstage with the Cousin It hair.

I saw Ringu also, after I saw The Ring. I liked the American version and liked it. I rented Ringu and kinda liked it okay. Neither one explained very much, even though people like to say that Ringu explained some. The only area it went further than the original, as I recall, was to say that the girl's father may have been a demon rather than a human man.

The second one's previews make it look pretty scary. I LOVE the little boy in that movie! He's an AWESOME actor, reminiscent of the the way Christina Ricci was in the Addams Family movies. "Made for the part." Watching that little kid is creepy, like watching the soul of a 60-year-old man inhabit a 10-year-old. *shudder*

As far as horror sequels, I would point to Jeepers Creepers and its sequel as a pair that were done well, even considering it being a sequel.
