Because I knew that based on his own words, Kerry's true stand on Iraq was exactly the same as Bush's. Just as Al Gore before him. It really didn't matter who was President, because after 9/11/01, we would still be in Iraq right now, even with Al Gore in the Oval Office. So to me, Iraq was a complete & total non-issue in the election. I voted for Bush based on his tax & social security policies alone. "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..." -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." -- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 "Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." -- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 So there you have it. Flame for helping to Promote the "Evil NeoCon" agenda all you want. But to me, Iraq wasn't even an issue.
You're kidding, right? John Kerry and Al Gore claim that they supported the war because they're spineless politicians. You don't honestly believe that we'd be in Iraq if one of them had been calling the shots, do you? Iraq was a conflict entirely cooked up by Karl Rove. The rationale for war was INVENTED by the Bush administration. It was a war of choice, not necessity. There is absolutely no way that we'd be in Iraq now if Al Gore had been president in 2003.
Quotes by George W. Bush: "The thing that's wrong with the French is that they don't have a word for entrepreneur" "It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it." "Most imports are from outside of the country" "I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves." "There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee...that says, fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me...you can't get fooled again." "To those of you who received honours, awards and distinctions, I say well done. And to the C students, I say you, too, can be president of the United States." "In my sentences I go where no man has gone before." "Rarely is the question asked: is our children learning?" "They want the federal government controlling Social Security like it's some kind of federal program." "Natural gas is hemispheric. I like to call it hemispheric in nature because it is a product that we can find in our neighborhoods." "This is Preservation Month. I appreciate preservation. It's what you do when you run for president. You gotta preserve." "One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures." "Redefining the role of the United States from enablers to keep the peace to enablers to keep the peace from peacekeepers is going to be an assignment." "Senator Kerry assures us that he's the one to win a war he calls a mistake, an error, and a diversion. But you can't win a war if you don't believe in fighting." "I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family." "More Muslims have died at the hands of killers than - I say more Muslims - a lot of Muslims have died - I don't know the exact count - at Istanbul. Look at these different places around the world where there's been tremendous death and destruction because killers kill." "[To Brazilian President Fernando Cardoso]:'Do you have blacks, too?'" "They misunderestimated me." Yep... this is the guy running our country.
Both Pikachu and Kandahar have to be the most outrageously stupid people on these forums. Pray for them people....
RevoMystic, Aren't you that paranoid asshat that was calling people out in here as being CIA spooks, or other such nonsense? Look, i'm not a college student, i'm an entrepreneur. I own a small business, and Bush is very pro-small business. Since Bush has been at the helm, i've been able to pull myself out of the lower class, and into the upper. Not bad for just 4 years. I pay my taxes, I give to charity, and own a nice house in the suburbs. So if that makes me a "selfish NeoCon", then fine, but you won't see me begging for quarters on the street in 30 years or working the front door at Walmart because Social Security failed.
Get ready for Bush's domestic cuts this year to pay for his $280 billion Iraq game. Also, get ready for continued devaluation of the dollar and higher interest rates, not to mention higher energy costs due to a failed energy policy. Those effects will be far worse on businesses than any meager gain from tax cuts that were issued the past couple years.
Bush didn't do my area any good. He wants a nearly 20% cut in the funding of a NASA facility in my area in a single year, which is going to kill a lot small businesses. To make that big of a cut that quickly is foolhardy. What's more disturbing about it, is that he's doing this to pay for his manned Moon Mars mission, which he has given no plan for and given no clear reasons as to why he wants to do this. He simply robs useful programs to pay for another one of his whims, just as he is now cutting domestic programs to pay for his Iraq debacle.
What kinda small business? 'Cause I know bush is also very pro-big-business, and that's usually bad for small business. What specifically has he done to help you? Social security is in no danger. Here are some of the stats: If nothing is done to social security it'll go bankrupt in 40 years. Or around that. For those earning more than 90,000 per year, only 90,000 of their income is taxed for social security. Whatever problems would arise in 40 years or so are curable simply by raising the cap or getting rid of it. And it's not like those people that would be affected by that change would have to resort to living on the street or anything. Maybe they just couldn't rent as many movies at blockbusters every year.
Social security will actually be bankrupt by 2018. The 40-year figure that you often hear is based on the faulty assumption that the social security trust fund actually has money in it. Instead, it just has IOUs from the same government responsible for it. In 2018, social security will start paying out more than it takes in. Since there is no money in the trust fund, it will go bankrupt.
Bush isn't pro small buisness, he is pro large corporate America. Buy the looks of our deficit he has a money spending issue to.
If the government would have left there hands off of social security to begin with we wouldn't have this problem. They were to busy dipping into it.
I can't see why a fiscal conservative would vote for Kerry, I know Bush has a bad habit of overspending but i would assume Kerry would do the same. Now as for GHWB, He was actually a very articulate man. He was a superior speaker to Clinton and had Ross not entered the election HW would have won. HW lost alot of his support because while he promised no new taxes, the Gulf War had to be paid for and He knew taxes were the only way.
It was a tragedy one of perot's hallucinations didn't come to fruition. We might have avoided the clinton/clinton circus...
Thank you for explaining your reasons for becoming a traitor against the United States. I'm sure the international criminal court will go easy on you on that basis.
