First off, I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful advice given to us on our last post. We will be sure to check out everything now added to our list. Aaron and I are traveling to Amsterdam and have heard a few rumors about there being new immunization rules imposed by the European Union. We would like to know if there is any truth to these rumors. I believe that all we have to have to travel there from America is a passport, proof of sufficient funds, proof of lodging, and return ticket. Is this correct? Thanks again for your time.
We are going for two weeks between May 3rd and May 17th. This is our first trip to Amsterdam. So, if you have any other advice, please feel free to give us your input.
I think the requirments you name are more for people who are likely to stay.. so that's from the more 'third world countries'.. it's a way to distinguish the tourist from the refugees/immigrants. I don't know the exact rules about that. If you've booked your ticket at a travelagency they should be able to give you that information.. and if you already have a reservation at a hotel you can probably use that as 'proof' for you touristness Anyways..have a graet time and bring warm clothes.. it's snowing!
In a nut shell, you don't need anything apart from your passport and flight ticket if travelling from the States. However, if your plan to stay to work you have to register with the local Police within 8 days of arrival and have 3 months breathing space to find employment and you must renew the Police permit every 3 months also after which you must apply for a residence permit too, ie, have an address in the country. If your going just for a holiday for less than 3 months a standard passport is all you need if your an American.
