so who serves the best space cake of all the coffee houses? does anyone have any input or suggestions?

it wasn't so easy to find last time i was there... i found some at the bulldog, one of my least favorite spots.

i will add that even if a coffee house is on the bottom of a list, it is better than any bar here in the states, that's for sure :)

i have a pretty good layover in amsterdam in a few weeks, and i want to make the most of my little visit to this lovely city - so would someone be so kind as to inform me of coffee-house with the best space cake?

A high proportion have them in all sorts or varieties,
muffins, bon-bons, iced cakes, chocolate cakes, etc.
Not tried them but Coffee shop Chocolata (Spuistraat 51)
looks like they would sort you out, but like I said most
    have them anyway.

    Hi,
I can highly recommend the spacecake at coffee shop Extreme, located at Huidenstraat 13. (one of the nine streets)
It's a lovely small and clean place with free internet.
I forgot the name but their spacecake (and chocolate) is from a special company. I tried many cakes and these are really nice. I prefer to eat it before I go to bed, because cake always have such a long long high.

When we went there a couple years ago, I tried the space cake at Kandinsky's on Rosemarijnsteeg. It was tasty, but it didn't kick in for like 2 hours, and by that time I was asleep. Oh well... We also went to Barney's on Haarlemmerstraat, but just for breakfast. God I LOVE Amsterdam... :sigh:

From a local : Abraxus, the tastiest and most consistent cakes in the Dam.

To find the Abraxas Coffeeshop from the Dam Square, look at Madam Tussaud's Building, and notice the alley to the right of it called the Kalverstraat. Enter this alleyway, and look for the very first right-hand turn into the tiny alleyway named Jonge Rollensteeg. Keep going... it's down at the other end by the Nieuwzijdes Voorburgwal on the right. There are several large neon signs.
    Address:
    Jonge Rollensteeg

Not sure if it's my tolerance level or what but I tried space cakes from Abraxas and Kadinsky with no effect whatsoever last year.

I'd recommend buying a gram of some good moroccan and eating it along a nice cake from one the awesome bakeries around town. This way you know what's in it and can expect some effects.

I agree with Ictricity....I also tried the cakes with no buzz at all back in 2003. But the kif kats (chocolate with weed) were awesome. Brought a bunch of those back. I would also recommend downing some straight hash with your fav. desert.

I can recommend Hill street Blues coffeeshop for every1.
I hade absolutely fantastic bananacake there, kept me high 'till the next morning, and I have quite high tolerance...

And they have cheap beer aswell €2.80 a pint.

And the place used to be a police station, so it has a nice touch :D

Thanks for the staff for a nice time!

Same here. I bought 2 hash brownies from Abraxas and they did nothing for me. I ate one on the plane... nothing, ate another on the plane, still nothing. I think I'll try it your way next time. How long does the buzz from a gram last? :)

A friend of mine loves the cakes from coffeeshop 36. I tried 1 a while ago. Not sure how it affected me because i went to sleep not long after eating it. Had a good nights sleep though.

I've never got a good enough buzz off space cakes/food in Amsterdam myself. Best bet is to make your own with some hash ground up. Strangely I hate the smell of hash when it burns but I like the taste of it if I bite a bit off to chew in raw form.

Do you eat something with fat in it when you eat the hash and how much does it take to get you baked for the long plane ride home? Ever gotten sick from it? I'm curious because I want to try this next time :)

    Yes.

    Hash Yogurt Recipe:

Take a small spoon of vegetable oil and crumble a gram of hash into it. Heat the oil gently and the hash will disperse. Be careful not to heat it too hard that it begins to bubble or smoke. Stir this through a single serving container of your favorite flavored, and this part is important, "full" fat yogurt. Leave the yogurt in the fridge overnight. Eat and enjoy.

    Recommended for Daily Smokers Only.

If you're not a daily smoker then go with .5g, or even .25g.

Then call me in the morning... LOL

I am interested in this as well, I got a 11-12 hour flight home, would love to take some cakes with me.. can you take them on the plane with you? that would be awesome, specially since I have never flown b4.. I will be so happy to hit the ground in amsterdam :) but a nice 10 hour spacey body buzz would be just the ticket for the ride home :)

As for taking them on the plane I know you can because I did it, however, I didn't try to take them through our customs. I consumed them on the plane. Better eat 2 at one time, one did nothing for me followed by another a couple hours later. Save your money and try eating the hash as we are discussing here.

    Peace,
