Hello everybody,

has anyone got any info on where to buy a second hand split screen Volkswagen Camper in the UK?Im gonna be saving up for a long time...so somewhere where they are continually being bought and sold would be ideal

So am I but due to prices I am going to get a beetle first until I can afford one. There are always some on ebay but perhaps not the best place to buy one. Going to look at it first with someone who knows what there looking for is a must. I get "Ultra VW" and "Volksworld" magazines every month, they always have classified adverts in the back. Prices are on the increase but don't always pay what is asked look at simular vans and their prices. Some people charge much more than their worth. There is another magazine "VW Camper" coming out in April in WHSmith shops! But no matter where you buy one remember, going to look at it first with someone who knows what there looking for is a must. I hope that helps!!!!

anyway if you want a kombi the best place to go is www.thesamba.com they have loads in the uk pretty much continually.

but if your a genius like myself....
you will look at the u.s prices...convert into pounds using www.xe.com ...look up shipping costs and realise that its MUCH cheaper to buy in the u.s and ship over

Im not sure where to get one from but i too wish to travel, and it has been my dream since 7 years old but hay if you find out where to get cheep Vw's from please PM me for i wish to know.

Its a really friendly VW forum - lots of knowledgeable folks around to help with any questions you may have. Depends on how much resto you're prepared to do, but you could probably pick up a splitty for around £5k. Alternatively, get a Bay (like me ) - my Mabel is absolutely fab and cost under £3k.

The 'KamperMart' section of the forum has loads of ads for vans for sale - if you're serious, check it out.

fucking hell 7k? thats a lotta savings....i'll probably get a bay window as they're SO much cheaper....7k should get you a decent splitty yeah. when are you planning on leaving for your travels?

 

I have been saveing for a very long time and my perants helped but im planing to leave after sixth form (year 12 and 13)and maby a year later to do some stuff here but in about 3-4 years probably less.

And yes anyone is welcome as long as they have space to "live" i have a few followers now and we will have about 2-3 VW's so it will be like a conviy.....sweet....

Sometimes i am so happy to live in america. There's a lot of Westies on sale for about 4000 or 5000 $ CAN but they all need ''minor reparations'' . That is why i wanna learn mechanics. ...An other good thing is that because california is not too far (that's relative) you can buy westies with no rust for an affordable price. wow cheaper in america.......anyway im not sure where im going yet.....but i was planing to go where i can from France i can preatty much travel round most of the world from there apart from america......to expencive to get to with a Van............dont know if you wanna come to there we could drop you off a South Africa some how if you wanted........
