I have come close to not owning a single piece of footwear anymore. I've been bf 24/7 for almost19 yrs but in these days i applied for a task that absolutely requires shoes so i went in the workshop and under a pile of old junk i found a pair i didn't wear since high school, removed all the dead spiders and bang, more bucks saved. so, sometimes i wear shoes but it happens , like once each three months or so. About winter, global warming did wonders here and winter today is a joke, i could almost go around in a sweater. so I think my boot days are gone.

Congrats! I'm sure your feet are thankful for making the transition to full time barefoot living! :grinning:

I'm hoping that I'll also be making that transition in the near future. I've already removed all closed-toe shoes from my house, and working from home has helped me have more time to be barefoot, although my barefoot adventures have been quite limited in scope!

I'm far from a hardcore barefooter at the moment, though when I think of some of the things I've stepped in over my brief period of barefooting... well, I'd say I'm surely an eager beaver when it comes to exploring and pushing my current boundaries of barefoot experience! :D

I'd love to barefoot as much as possible, but I don't think 24/7 is feasible here. On Christmas weekend, we recorded temps as low as -28 Celsius (-18,4 Fah), which is getting to be a bit too dangerous for exposed flesh. Also, certain social situations still require me to dress up properly. Like Christmas. I visited my elderly parents over the weekend and mom definitely doesn't appreciate, if somebody wears the hippie look to her dinner table on the birthday of our lord and savior. But other than that, I do it any time I can get away with it. Which is to say, a lot these days.

One of the advantages to working from home is the dress code or more accurately the lack there of

Regarding this, I'm thinking about starting bicycling more come summer. Barefoot, of course.

cool. I once used to buy cheap ones from stands in road markets. that was until covid came to wreak havoc about. I used to lose or break them from walking over gravel.

    Hi everybody,
I took my mom out for Mother’s Day to brunch and yes I was barefoot I thought I was going to have a problem at this restaurant but no the hostess seated us and she smiled and said nice toe rings. I said thanks and then the waitress came over and she notice that I was barefoot . She took our order and she said that she wish she could be barefoot too . After brunch I took my mom to the cemetery so we could put flowers on my grandma’s grave and when went home . It’s been a good barefoot Mother’s Day today.

    Hi everybody,
I had to go to the gas station to get gas and it was busy and I heard someone say I like your toe rings. It was a guy that was putting gas in his truck I said thank you I like them too. And he was also barefoot and he had a few toe rings too I ask where he got them and he told me he makes them I said wow . And I ask him for his card he gave me his card and he does toe rings anklets so I ask how much he said it depends so I told him I would be calling him he ask for my name I told him people call me barefoot Rick he said ok and he will be waiting for my phone call . At least I don’t have to go looking for toe rings or anklets now I know a guy that makes them. Will everybody keep barefooting

For most of the year I live barefoot. (except winter - it's too harsh in my locale) Some activities I particularly enjoy while barefoot include: walking in nature, surf-skating (70's style skateboarding), biking, and doing yard work.

The main reason why I started going barefoot was, and still is, to optimize my health. I'd read many good things about it ("grounding"/earthing, etc.) online, and then about a year later, a family relative introduced me to a book titled "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall. The book shares McDougall's story about the Tarahumara or Rarámuri - an indigenous group who are known for their ability to run along for hundreds of miles over difficult, rugged terrain with seemingly super-human ease in the Copper Canyon of Mexico. Many of them have been known to run well into old age!

It felt incredibly natural and liberating to be free of the rigid, mainstream "cast" shoes I had to wear for the majority of my life! Xero shoes & sandals are now my go-to's. For formal settings (work events, funerals, weddings, etc.) I don a pair of 3 oz. flimsy black FitKicks.

I recommend barefooting to everyone! Some are more open-minded to it than others. In my experience, family and friends living in daily pain from bunions and plantar fasciitis were most open to it and gave it a try for relief. No matter what your reason or interest is in living barefoot, it makes life literally more down-to-earth and fascinating!

I know what you mean when I was a teenager I would go barefoot because I hate wearing socks and shoes. And when I could go barefoot in school I would. Then in middle school we could be barefoot in gym class so I would be barefoot and high school the same but a little more I would go to class barefoot and some teachers didn’t care . Then out of high school I would be barefoot until I had to go to work then I opened my own business a detailing shop where I and my employees would be barefoot all the time . Then I got gout and that was not good at all . But I would go everywhere barefoot restaurants , movies, and store even when I would go and see my doctor I go barefoot even to this day. And I can say being barefoot does help my gout . When I do have a outbreak of gout my anklets get swollen real bad like the size of a cantaloupes . And if I did wear shoes and socks I could not wear them . So being barefoot for along time over 29 years it’s great and I’m barefoot all year around.

Wish I had gone barefoot as you did as a teenager, but sadly I never even really questioned the idea of going without shoes and socks. It sounds like you got to really enjoy your schooling years barefoot. Shoes and socks were always required at my school, as a strongly enforced rule. Very cool that you had went into business for yourself and made it barefoot-friendly! I am glad to hear that going barefoot has helped your gout flareups. It has worked wonders for my feet as well, by un-doing damage done by shoes. This spring, it is 4 years of living barefoot as much as possible for me.
