I'm planning on clipping a few of the bottom fan leaves in 3 or 4 days (just started 12/12 today).. Should I only cut the fan leaves that are blocking light from the inner leaves? The bottom pair are turning kind of yellow, and I read that these are the ones you shoud cut, but they aren't blocking any light from inner leaves. The fan leaves on the third node are blocking light from inner leaves, starting to yellow very slightly, and they have some spots on them. How do you personally clip your plants?
i cut out the inner leaves so each branch can stretch out further. any branches that don't grow straight out from the trunk and cross over others remove. you want to encourage the conical shape but you shouldn't have to prune the plant to this shape as it should do it naturally when combined with pruning methods above.
trim all the unhealthy leaves. dont worry if big fan leaves are blocking light to small leaves. the surface area on the fan leaves will do more photosynthesis then those little ones. im a big fan of prunning bud leaves, but ill keep quiet about it cus the other people here will yell at me.
