I'm afraid you will be disappointed. IQs dropped noticeably with the introduction of televangelism and, again, with the introduction of the cellphone. The more advanced our technology and the longer people are immersed in television and the internet, the faster all their own lies catch up with them, causing their mortality rates to shoot through the roof and reproductive rates to drop. These are conservatives, supposedly the heart of family values, and their population is imploding, with the rest of the country appearing poised to follow in their footsteps, chasing the all-mighty dollar down the toilet. Apparently, western civilization is based on total bullshit revolving around arguing over the definition of stupid, but our own technology is now making all the lies and aggression unsustainable.
Sorry about that paid promotion shit in post 127------had I watched to that point , I wouldn't have posted it. OK--just went back and deleted it.
He beat Trump he rules!!,on the other hand in a country with well over 300 million people...well it's complicated after that
I am a little worried about Ms. Giggles Harris. She needs to get off her ass and do something in the limelight or she's gonna sink the whole ship.
Just about everything Biden is being blamed for is crap that Trump is responsible for, or that Congress is to blame for. Then again, the Tax Party formed bitching about Obama over taxes from Bush Jr's administration. The President always catches the flak when its Congress that is the problem. Its absolute bull that POTUS has term limits, but those elected dictators do not.
The 2 things this country desperately needs is term limits for Congress and the same for Supreme Court. No one should have a lifetime appointment to anything in a democracy. And the big problem with Congress is guys like McConnell being elected to 6 or 7 six-year terms in the Senate and gals like Pelosi being the leader of her party in Congress for 20+ years.
Would have been nice to get Joe circa 2006'ish but at least there's no spray tan or immediate signs of nepotism. Not expecting a lot of true left-moving policies, maybe 2024 when AOC runs? Though not much hope of a dem win after Joe's 4 year term I guess. Meh.
The Republicans either deludedly believe that they're the majority or just plain lie that they are. That's because they're the ones always running their mouths about things. Most Democrats have the sense to stay quiet. (I've mostly stopped using Facebook, because inevitably some asshole starts bitching about `liberals' in a conversation not about politics.) Ohio even busted the Republicans for Gerrymandering, and they're not the only state to do so. The Republicans also tried to pull that in Pennsylvania, and a few other states. Here where I am, the city commission moved my district's major voting spot about a decade ago, saying it was because it lacked handicapped access. Which is absolute bullshit. The reason they moved it is because this is primarily a Democrat district, and the commission was majority Republican. The current location has about as much handicap access the old place did, except for two additional handicapped reserved parking spots. The tradeoff? It has about 1/4th as much parking as the old location.
I agree, and I’ve said this before. No one over the age of seventy five should hold public office(sorry Joe). Additionally no one over the age of sixty five should be allowed to run for public office.
I point to Strom Thurmond as a reason for term AND age limits. He was so frail he had to be rolled into the chamber in a wheelchair by someone else AND possibly out of his mind during his last term in office. Plus the thinking behind term limits is that they stop the possibility of a dictator. Congress holds more power than the President, and they don't have term limits so we have a group of dictators instead of just one.
I must confess that I didn't read all 142 responses before mine, but I note that the original posting was just after Inauguration Day, so I'll add this with the benefit of one-year's hindsight. Leading up to the election, I characterized Biden succinctly this way: hapless but affable. I characterize him exactly the same way today. His competence and cognitive ability are lacking, but he doesn't spend all day lashing out about perceived slights and he's virtually impervious to criticism. He seems like a guy who will spend the next three years watching cartoons in his bathrobe, and putting on a very nice suit from time to time to stumble through speeches he had no hand in preparing. I can live with that.
He's a weak bumbling politician, and so's his VP. I don't think they have a good grasp on ANY of the issues facing our nation today. And no, I'm not a Trump guy. Just answering the question.
the only realistic way AOC runs in 2024 is if she challenges Schumer in the New York Democratic Senate primary and beats him thereby allowing her to run in '24 as Senator AOC. If she tries to run for president with her only experience being a 2 or 3 term member of the House, then she has no chance even in a Democratic primary.
Biden seems like a decent human being, and these days that counts more than political posturing. He is THE FIRST US PRESIDENT TO HAVE A SHELTER DOG IN THE WHITE HOUSE ("Major" a German shepherd). For reference: Trump is afraid of dogs and is the first/only US president to NOT have a dog.
