I just can't accept that anyone, no matter how stupid, could think JFK jr is suddenly going to appear in Dealey Plaza 22 years after his plane crashed off the coast of Massachusetts. I remember that day well and everyone in Boston was in a complete state of shock. No one could believe another tragedy like this could befall the Kennedy clan

On Jan. 3, they were joined by Eastman, the legal scholar. Eastman met with Trump and Pence the following day in the Oval Office, where he urged Pence to delay the counting of electoral votes so that state legislators could have more time to investigate supposed fraud. Also at the Willard was lawyer Katherine Friess, whose firm — Seven Good Stones — was used to reserve the rooms at the Willard, according to Kerik and documents reviewed by The Post. Friess did not respond to several requests for comment. Around the time the team set up shop at the Willard, Trump, Giuliani and a phalanx of others seeking to overturn the election often cited a “forensic report” on Dominion Voting Systems machines as proof that the presidency had been stolen. The report was written by Russell Ramsland, a Texas tea party activist who had previously written affidavits that, though riddled with errors and baseless claims, were submitted as evidence in multiple lawsuits challenging Biden’s victory. Ramsland’s report, released as part of a court case alleging fraud in Antrim County, Mich., was based on copies of Dominion hard drives. Friess was one of seven people who were part of the“forensic team” present for the copying of those hard drives on Dec. 6, court records show. Phil Waldron, a retired Army colonel who specialized in psychological operations, was listed as an expert witness in the Antrim County lawsuit that gave rise to the “forensic report.” The Post previously reported that Waldron was among those working out of the Willard, leading a team of people who provided Kerik with analyses of state data that purported to show fraudulent voting."
Rough Night for Democrats Exposes the Party’s Weakness excerpts: "In Virginia, the Democratic nominee for governor, Terry McAuliffe, was beaten with relative ease by Glenn Youngkin, a Republican private equity executive and political newcomer. In New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, faced a stunningly close race after being expected to coast to victory. In Minneapolis, voters rejected a ballot measure pushed by progressives that would have replaced the Police Department with a public safety department. Perhaps most strikingly, the crushing setbacks for Democrats in heavily suburban Virginia and New Jersey hinted at a conservative-stoked backlash to the changing mores around race and identity championed by the party, as Republicans relentlessly sought to turn schools into the next front in the country’s culture wars." "Even before the race was officially called for Mr. Youngkin, Democratic strategists were calling for their party to examine whether continuing to focus on Mr. Trump remained the best strategy, particularly after an election in which Mr. Biden promised his supporters that they would no longer have to worry about — or even think about — the round-the-clock drama of the previous administration."
Hmm, I was expecting all kinds of crap to come spewing out of this guy - he was actually reasonable...probably would get a lot farther in life if he didn't fit the hillbilly mold.
The democrats need to be more pragmatic. Progressives better realize that most people in this country are centrists, if they don’t they will lose control of Congress. I am a strong environmentalist, but even I realize that a topic like climate change is not a priority for most people.
Opinion | Why Election Night 2021 Was Bad for Donald Trump excerpt: "There is no doubt that Trump brought a new combativeness to the GOP, sensed a hunger among the party’s voters for new departures on immigration and trade, and won the presidency in 2016 based on an electoral map few thought possible. But Trump has lived off the legend of 2016 — only he knows how to win or fight, and he holds the key a working-class-based electoral coalition that no one else understands as instinctively or as well. Trump’s image as the wizard of winning was always doubtful. In 2016, some Republican Senate candidates notably outperformed him in their states. In 2020, Republican House candidates also outperformed Trump, not by enormous margins, but enough to make a difference. As Bill Galston of the Brookings Institution points out, if Trump had gotten the same number of votes in Georgia as Republican House candidates, he would have won the state by 16,000 voters, rather than losing it by 12,000, thus saving Sidney Powell the trouble of coming up with elaborate fantasies for why he lost and making the lives of Republican Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger much easier. Trump’s magic was to a large extent based on running against a very unpopular candidate, Hillary Clinton, and in a race where he could lean on the Electoral College. He never had to aim for 50 percent plus 1, but 47 percent and just the right breaks in the battleground states. This is not a sustainable or readily replicable model."
Opinion | Why Election Night 2021 Was Bad for Donald Trump excerpt: "Now, Youngkin, who at the end of the day is a Glenn Youngkin Republican, exceeded Trump’s 2020 margins in the reddest parts of Virginia. In Southside Virginia, Trump won by 22 points; Youngkin won by 36. In Southwest Virginia, Trump won by 45; Youngkin by 53. In the Shenandoah Valley, Trump won by 22; Youngkin by 33. In the Upper Tidewater, Trump won by 16; Youngkin by 28. The danger to Trump’s standing in the GOP isn’t that he’ll be flatly repudiated or ever stop being popular, rather that he’s no longer viewed as central or essential as he has been over the last five years. Worried that he’s not getting enough credit for Virginia, Trump said on Wednesday that there’s no way Youngkin would have won without MAGA voters. True enough. Youngkin needed to get them out and did, without Trump campaigning for him and barely mentioning his name. Therein lies a tale."
In 2020 Trump lost Virginia by 10%. He is still claiming he lost because of widespread fraud. Trump: Youngkin 'would have lost by 15 points without MAGA' excerpt: "I would like to thank my BASE for coming out in force and voting for Glenn Youngkin. Without you, he would not have been close to winning," the former president said in a statement. "The MAGA movement is bigger and stronger than ever before." Trump also used Youngkin's victory to push a repeated but false claim that voter fraud in Virginia and other states led to a "rigged" election in 2020. "I don't believe we lost Virginia and I think they tried to get away with murder in Fairfax," Trump reportedly said during Wednesday's radio interview. "They were doing something in Fairfax then gave up - too many eyes."
7 Republicans present at the Jan. 6 'Stop the Steal' rally that preceded the Capitol insurrection won on Election Day: report excerpt: "Seven Republicans who were present at the January 6 "Stop the Steal" rally that preceded the deadly Capitol insurrection were given the seal of approval by voters on Election Day, according to The Huffington Post. Three of the attendees were elected to state legislative offices, while four were elected to local positions. While most of the Republicans have contended that they played no role in breaching the Capitol building, they were among the participants who took part in the demonstration that fueled the attack, pushing the debunked election theories perpetuated by former President Donald Trump regarding his election loss to now-President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. There are likely to be additional rally participants who will remain in elective office in the coming years, as HuffPost earlier this year identified at least 57 state and local Republicans officials who were present at the Capitol riot and will face reelection in 2022. Despite the mayhem and anarchy that was a defining part of Jan. 6, many of the Republican officials who attended the rally have not been asked to step down by local parties."
GOP members who were law-abiding and ethical and who spoke out against Trump's riot were censured by the GOP.
Trump never gained any traction in the courts with such vague allegations, even for cases that were heard by federal judges and three Supreme Court justices he had appointed.
