I'm really wanting to start and online shope to sell my creations. I've been wanting to do it for a long time but never have. I'm just now starting to make alot of different thing's, so I will have a decent amount when I start my site.

I just wanted to ask about domain names and whatnot. I went to yahoo and I can get a .net address with a small business kit, which includes everything I would need for a store, it's $40 a year... Is that good? I don't know anything about this, so I wanted to make sure before I went ahead and got it.
Also, I know it's gonna be a bit of work to keep up with, what about designing the page?
Anything you guy's could tell me that might help me out would be appreciated.
Just want to make sure I have everything down before I get myself into it.
    But I'm very excited!

40 bucks is a pretty good price for domain name hosting as well as a place to put your store. Yahoo should have stock designs for you to use at first until you can make your own site or hire someone to do it for you. You should sign up for a paypal account so that you can take credit cards, Paypal has a built in shopping cart for you to use.

Another way to go is doteasy.com They have a basic package for free. That is where out store is hosted. We have no complaints so far. We used doteasy and a paypal account to set it up. Dot Easy also has a built in guestbook that you can cutomise for your site. The only drawback to using a free site like dot easy is that you have to know basic web design in order to make your page. Or like I said before you can hire someone to do it for you. Do lots of research before you go that way though.

A good book on web design and a program called Macromedia Dresmweaver MX will help you to learn how to do it yourself. Dreamweaver comes packaged with Macromedia Fireworks for your graphics, or you can get Adobe PhotoShop. I prefer PhotoShop because it is what I am used to, but Fireworks is just as good. All of these programs have books availiable for them to help you learn how to use them.

    I hope this helps.

BTW: if you need help doing your design or setting anything up... my services are for trade. I have all of the programs needed for setting up a web site, they are kind of expensive so sometimes finding someone who already has them to help you can be beneficial.

If you need help you can PM me or email me at redfraggle42@yahoo.com I will be glad to help you. :)

I use yahoo small business. I like it because it comes with a site builder that is easy to use. Plus I have tons of server space. I pay $11 a month for mine. I think it is worth it because I do not have frontpage or dreamweaver so I get a lot of use out of the site builder.

I also use Yahoo small biz & the yahoo site builder.
I think you can download the site builder for FREE before you have a yahoo hosting account. Download it for free & play with it ,,,it is easy ,,of course your site woudl not be LIVE but you can play before paying :)
