We might have a diffrent definition of 'snooty' i think the diffrence is (in deffinition between you and i) I think some americans have too be always 'in' and never 'so last week' rather than 'stuck up' and 'posh' that can be leveled at some Brits ... we are proably the same types in the bigger cities with people being so post post modern ironic ?. I have no doubt the people you hang out with are nothing like this , or in my cynical mind i might find them tiresome and full of themselves ... more than likely not though, you seem to be a nice enough person not 'snooty' at all just like you say 'extremely cool and honest and helpful'...
