I agree. Global warming, in my opinion, is unstoppable. We can do a lot more about all the pollution and smog in the atmosphere for a lot less money. I think we should focus on those things instead of global warming. I think you're mistaken about that.
I can stop AIDS for anybody and it only cost about five bucks. It is called Bleach, yes it will probely kill the person buuut "No man no problem" - Joseph Stalin. Of course that is a joke. I'm for the treaty for the sole fact that maybe America will look at how many people are worried about global warming and think "You know what this would cost a crap load of money, how about we revamp it to make it cost less but still help the enviroment, there are alot of people wanting us to do something." Some times its not the big things you have to worry about, but the little things, the catalyst.
I am doing research through Texas Tech University at Big Bend National Park about how climate shifts (many percipitation) that will be caused by Global Warming are going to effect the community structure and physiology of the plants in the area. Global warming is a serious issue, every bit of evidence that we (scientist) have is showing that it is happening and could be very harmful. Do your own research and don't listen to anyone who acts like it isn't going to happen but haven't taken the time to look at the evidence.
If global warming is happening, could someone tell me why records for hotest temperatures are not being broken? The three hottest temperatures on record for Australia are: (1) Cloncurry ,Qld. 16th January 1889 , 53.1ºC. (2) Bourke ,NSW. 17 January 1887 ,52.8ºC. (3) Mildura 6 January 1906 50.8ºC. In fact out of the top ten record temperatures there are two from the 1970's the rest were all earlier.
Certain spots of the world are affected more by global warming than others. It's possible that Australia is an area that isn't affected by it all that much (I don't know much about global weather patterns, so I can't really say one way or the other). However, your statistics are for the most extreme temperatures. Global warming is a problem because it increases the AVERAGE temperature. Nevertheless, it's indisputable that the average WORLD temperature is rising at a worrying rate. The top ten hottest years (average world temperature) have all occurred since 1990, and the top five have all occurred since 1997.
Kandahar is right on this one, the problem is the rising of the average temperatures. In regards to the tops post on this page (#3) by Kandahar, isn't the pollution and smog a lot of what the problem is with global warming? Like, I thought the problem was all the carbon dioxide, methane, etc... causing the radiation to be deflected at a lower rate, in effect making the average air temperatures higher...? Peace
Global warming is caused by Carbon Dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas. This means that the energy coming into our bioshpere in the forms of various rays bounces off of the ground and is reflected as infrared rays which are trapped by carbon dioxide and not allowed to leave our biosphere (hence the word "greenhouse"). By increasing the level of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere (cars, electricty, burning of trees in the rainforest) we are increasing the amount of heat that is trapped in our atmosphere. Because of this the average temperature is increasing and this is going to cause climate shifts in certain areas of the world causing some important crops to die and an overall loss of biodiversity. This is a serious problem and there will be serious consequences that come from it.
i have to ask this. why do you care so much about this shit if your not gonna be around in 60 years? for the younger generations i suppose, but then again, they dont care either.
I care because I am going to have kids of my own one day and they will have kids of there own and so on. In addition, I feel related to every human on this earth, we are all the same, made up of the same stuff, living on the same rock. We are all apart of something very special and as you get older and more mature you will start to realize this more and more (I am not be condesending). The sites that I have seen and the wonders of nature have truley changed me in a way I can't explain and if I can save some of this for future generations to see then I will be able to die a happy man. Get out of the cities and explore nature around you, life is everywhere and it is wonderful. This is why I have devoted myself to conservation biology, I feel it my reponsibility to save this beatiful world while money mongers are trying to destroy it.
becknudefck, what the fuck man? you gotta realize, life is precious. appreciate what you can, while you can. think of others sometime, maybe not in your own generation. leave things as you found them, leave a healthy earth for our descendants. i love to get out and see the mountains... peace.
What an idiotic, selfish statement. "I'll get mine while I can, to hell with my kids and grandkids! Whee! Let's go burn some oil wells for kicks!"
i really don't get it with people who just say who cares about the environment if were gonna die in 60 years etc, because at the end of the day its everyones world not just yours, or your generations
