I'm sure this thread has been done before, but who did you vote for for president? What were your reasons? Who do you think or want to run in 2008? I voted for Michael Peroutka, but I liked George Bush. I hope Howard Dean gets the nomination in 2008.
Supported Howard Dean for the nomination. Voted for John Edwards for the nomination. Voted for John Kerry in the general election. Reasons: I despise George W. Bush As for 2008, I really don't know yet. I wouldn't mind Howard Dean running again. I like Hillary Clinton too, but I don't know if she's electable.
Everyone can vote for a pigs nuts in 2008 as much difference as it might really make unless some serious problems within the system are adressed and fixed. I'm not saying give up, I'm saying raise some motherfuggin hell and things might change. But, keep relying on this horribly corrupt system for your sole vehicle for change and it will never, never happen. This message was not bought and paid for.
I couldn't vote but I went to several pro-Kerry ralleys in Atlanta. And also got bullied at my richy rich, overly conservative school for it. ^_^ I can't wait until 2008, but I won't be able to vote Democrat if Hillary gets the nomination -.-
I voted green. Out of all the parties I researched they were closest to my views, so I voted for Cobb. Hubby wrote in McCain because he didn't like anyone running lol I know my mom voted for Bush, but she mentioned one time that she wished everyone would vote for Mickey Mouse (the cartoon character, not the freaks who run him lol) because she thought he'd probably be able to do a better job than anyone who ever bothers to run anymore lol.
There's no way in hell that I could vote for Hitler-y! She'd be the closest thing to a dictator that the US could ever have. Even her old man and Bush wouldn't be as bad-and I find both of those guys loathsome! Again, I voted for Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik. Unless one of the major parties can get back to adhering to the constitution (both implicitly as well as explicitly), I will continue to support Libertarians or like minded individuals for the top office and other offices whenever possible. FTR, I respect that you voted for a minor-party candidate. My problem with Peroutka and the Constitution party is their fascist stance on civil liberties issues. They feel that the government should legislate one's personal "morality." I do not like the fact that they call their party by the name "Constitution." In 2008, I hope that the Libertarians can come up with a candidate that will be high profile, articulate and principled enough to be able to win over enough of the public to make a difference. An individual who tried (unfortunately-too late) to get the Libertarian nomination last year, Drew Carey might be an ideal choice. If the Democrats or Republicans can come up with a candidate whose what I'll call "constitutionally principled," I'll consider giving that individual my support. Howard Dean and Arnold Schwartzenegger do not qualify! The only former officeholder whom I may be able to tolerate would be Jesse Ventura-even there, I have reservations.
Ahnuld ooops I mean Arnold Schwarzeneggar can't run for President unless they amend the constitution. According to the articles of the qualifications for President, a candidate must be born a US citizen. The rigged Diebold voting machines must be done away as a step to insuring an honest election in '08. I favored John Edwards. He came from a poor background and worked his way through college and law school working in a cotton mill. A person that knows what its like to be poor and struggle for what you attain would make a good president. I ended up voting for Kerry not because I particularly liked him but because he wasn't Bush. I do know that my folks voted for Kery. The thing is that my Dad is a Pastor!
But wouldn't a Dean, Schwarzenegger, or Ventura - all of whom are closer to libertarianism than authoritarianism - at least be better than a Bush, Kerry, or Santorum? While I agree that a candidate like Drew Carey would be best, most American people are unlikely to vote for someone like that. I'd rather have a mediocre president than a bad president...
Are you implying the MN Folks were a lil...uhh...strange several years back electing a rassler for gov? And the Folks in Kalifornia?
By political standards, Ventura and Schwarzenegger are very effective and a nice change from the Rick Santorums of the country.
You voted for Peroutka, but you hope Dean wins the nomination in '08?? Peroutka and Dean are at extreme opposite ends of the spectrum. It seems odd you would vote for Peroutka, yet embrace Dean.
This is true, but it wouldn't surprise me to see someone try to amend the constitution to allow for this. I agree! What I'd really like to see done is for us to return to paper ballots. I think it would behoove as many of us as possible to get involved with groups involved with voting integrity. I was one of only 800 or so people in the entire state of south dakota who voted for Nader. Fuck Bush and his policies.
