But you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Respect is earned. It isn't a right. You're behaviour is insulting towards vegetarians and vegans, telling us that we need meat to survive when we know from years of experience that that isn't the case. Virtually every nutritionist on the face of the planet will tell you that meat isn't a requirement of a healthy diet. So again..... educate yourself before you open your mouth. That way, people will respect you.

ok "doktor". I wasnt putting down vegitarians. Its called debating. I know what im talking about, and i dont care if people dont respect me. Chances are they dont know me or what im like, so i dont care what they think of me. and you were such a genius at 15 werent you? just loved having people make you feel inferior because of your age eh? Maybe you need to learn to read what people post so you can understand what theyre talking about.

No, I wasn't a genius when I was 15. That's why I kept my mouth shut when I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about.

And again, you seem to hold an opinion that's different from that of virtually every nutritionist known to man, so would you care to explain exactly how it is that you know better than they do? Care to explain your reasoning in a little more detail?

Oh, and 'debating' is presenting rational arguments - not making sweeping, factually incorrect statements like "most people need meat to survive". That's not 'debating' - that's making a stupid statement.

PS. I'm off to bed now. I don't know if I'll survive the night. I've been a vegetarian for about 17 years, so seeing as meat is essential to my existence, I expect I'll die from malnutrition in my sleep.

dude fuck this shit man. This is why I hate these forums now. too many idiots thinking they are better and smarter than other people when they dont fucking read the posts right. I know ill never be a vegitarian, because I like meat too much. I came home froms chool and ate a steak, bloody as hell. I never said there was anything wrong with being a vegitarian. I only said you SOMETIMES need meat to survive because either health problems or a shortage of food.

when in reality are any of us in the western world gonna be short of food for any length of time to cause serious health problems?

health problems are more likely to come from eating meat than from not...

like you say... it's a debate... chill... it's not personal!

some people like beating people up... am sure they get off on the blood too... interesting world we live in huh?:)

Just to play Devils advocate - There has been problems with vegatables being contaminated as well as meat, pesticides not washed off properly etc, not to mention the potentially explosive "GM" situation.

On the whole I would say that I agree with Claire on this one, however if you look in the dictionary - Murder = the crime of intentionally killing a person (not an animal or plant)

So true... I guess we are lucky (depending on our budget cos it's so expensive!!) that we have the choice to eat organic?

Yup... we do as a society see animal's life as less imporatant than human's...

Well we could discuss this forever... but the point I'd like to make is...

Why kill and eat animals when we don't need to do to survive?... Why end a life for no life or death (for us) reason?...

I don't get it... please someone explain to me!:p

cause meat tastes good, goes in so many different good foods, and its a good source of nutrients. or just protein.

am losing patience... and it's only a bloody forum! Night Night lol :p xxx

Some would say that they prefer to eat meat instead of taking supplements beacuse it's more natural, and you KNOW what your ingesting.

I for example eat just about anything whether its animal or vegatable, I do however feel very stongly that animals should live a happy healthy life, and be treated with respect.

I have grown up in a rural setting and have grown vegatables and kept chickens all my life, when the chicken stops laying eggs, it gets the chop and goes into the pot. Until that happens however it has a good life (not being kept inside and overcrowded all day)

Hope this helps you understand another point of view, I fully respect yours :)

You don't need to take supplements if you don't eat meat... it's a myth!

I grew up rurally... and on and off through my life so far... I don't feel the need to eat meat.

I do understand your point of view... i just very much disagree...

Thankyou for being civil in your debate... that is great and I respect you a lot for that bud:)

I just feel it is arrogant of us as humans to well *ponders* ... use animals for our own purposes just cos we feel like it:& ...

If it was life and death... well ok I might have to re think it all!! but we both know there is no need to kill...

Hmmmmm well defined well put arguments by the vege's and stupid comments from the meat eaters.....Haven't they got it the wrong way round in the article?....I am a meat eater by the way, just trying to distance myself from the "cos it fucking tastes good and I aint never giving up my steak brigade".

I am not going to go into here why I eat meat as I am not really sure I have any valid reasons except for how I was brought up and a reliance on meat formed through society...I would like to change this but all attempts I have made have failed and I as much as it pricks my conscience I am not at a point in my life where I am abele to give it up. I am well aware of the irony of being for animal rights while still being a meat eater. In my defence I would like to say all the meat I do eat is organic and free range.....

I think for me personally I have more important issues to fight for at the moment than this....

Don't read the posts right? Ummm.... you did say "most people need meat to survive". This is in direct contradiction to the established facts. For a start, I'm alive after 17 years of not eating any meat, so that kind of proves the point all by itself. If you have some evidence to the contrary, then please share it with us. Otherwise you're just an "idiot thinking they are better and smarter than other people" when in reality you don't know what you're talking about.

Vegetarians have to put up with this sort of shit all the time. Don't be surprised when we get offended by some kid telling who knows nothing about the subject telling us that our diet is dangerous to our health.
