Are you really insinuating that since people die in MVA's anyway, there's no point passing traffic laws, car safety standards, requiring seat belts, or outlawing street racing?
The average person is more at risk of being in a vehicle accident, than being assaulted by person with a weapon
Anecdotal; but based upon years of service as a Paramedic, the overwhelming majority of "vehicle accidents" involve nothing more than a bit of wrinkled sheet metal. Even one round from "being assaulted by a person with a weapon" can ruin your whole day. What's your point?
As a Paramedic, You have seen more than a day ruined via auto accidents, While performing your duties as a Paramedic how many gun shot victims have you seen ? I want to “Thank You” for the work you do as a Paramedic, I have a couple of friends that are Paramedics, it can be a thankless job.
On occasion, but they were the exception, rather than the rule. Most were low-speed rear-enders with little damage and no injuries (THANKS SEAT BELTS AND CAR SAFETY STANDARDS!). Everything depended upon velocity; pretty much anything >60 mph usually ends badly. Over the years, I've no idea. Too goddamned many. Thank you.
I want to “Thank You” for the work you do as a Paramedic, I have a couple of friends that are Paramedics, it can be a thankless job. Thank you. With that being said, I will be ending my participation in this thread on a positive note, “Good Day” TC
what would constitute a "real" response? do you think you could change your mind for ANY reason? Fact of the matter the title of this thread is a complete and total misnomer its about Gun Control and Legislation Not talking about guns
Interesting to me that the article headlines gun deaths at record low but then goes on to say that two thirds of all gun related deaths are suicides. There is a massive difference between someone shooting someone else and shooting themselves. These reforms may very well have addressed the use of guns as an instrument of suicide but they likely, based on above statistic, haven't addressed the primary reason that most gun owners want to keep their guns, that being self defense by deterrent. Now that I've addressed the actual article I just have to add in a laugh. Gun rats sound epic! Aye true W.M.D. a rat wit a gun strapped to it.
What laws, if any, would you like to see eliminated? What laws, if any, would you like to see enacted? What weapons, if any, do you think should be restricted? Who should be permitted to own a gun, or should no restrictions at all be applied to gun ownership?
"Stand your ground" laws, which demonstrably are simply licenses to murder. "2nd Amendment sanctuary" laws. What a goddamned stupid idea. Ban most concealed carry. Require weapons be kept in a locked weapons safe, with ammunition stored separately. Limit most long gun magazines to fixed magazines; three rounds. Limit handguns to six rounds. Register all weapons. License weapons owners. Require liability insurance. Ration ammunition sales; restrict ammunition sales to licensed owners in the calibers of their registered weapons. Require background checks for all weapons purchasers, including private sales. Ban most semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines. Ban "ghost" guns. No grandfathering. People who have a documented need for a weapon (hunt, target, defense, etc.) should be required to demonstrate real competence through documented weapons training. Licensure should expire and require CEU's to be renewed. Open carry and concealed carry to require more stringent training and licensure requirements, including documented bona fide need. "Red Flag" laws; people with history of violence denied gun ownership for life. Possession of illegal weapons a felony, with civil forfeiture, punitive fines, jail time, and lifetime ban on gun ownership.
