Today I saw a young fox in Hyde Park (I ADORE that place, especially when it's sunset and snowing). We looked at each other for a few seconds and then she disappeared in the bushes. I know it's just anthropomorphisation, but that sad expression on her face, it was almost as if she was asking me to switch places. I went for the tube, though.
There are a few foxes that wander round the woods and fields outside my home. Lovely creatures... very timid but inquisitive.
I live in the US but I heard about the ban on the news today. They interviewed one woman who said she was upset about the ban and that fox hunting is "so graceful and exciting". Her words sickened me. Hopefully the police will crack down, but they did interview one who was saying that alot of people will ignore this new law and that basically law enforcement has many cases that fall superior to this issue.....IMO, it sounded as though they were basically saying that they weren't going to be doing much enforcing. Hopefully that's not the case. The reporter commented on the police officer's "indifference" on the matter. A win for the foxes! *yay*
I think i have been told by some people here or just heard it somewere ? that the anti hunt groups will prety much track and witness any illegal activity for the police .. then the police will prosecute accordingly..
Yeah, I heard something like that too...I'll tell you what, if there's any hunting going on near here you can bet your arse I'll be there with my banners and my camera!
camera YES banners NO I think they will test the new laws within the boundaries and the very obscure way it is written .... it is going to get vey ugly and lots of po faced cynics will get vey angry .. I hope more good or at least a resolution of these matters is found. It has been said that more foxes will die because of the ban ?.. it imho has been not a lot too do with the protection of a alien species of our country sides and more to do with liberal city dwellers attitudes anyway so i am sure this will go on and on and on and on....Not that the fundementals of people against fox hunting is wrong, just well ?? not sure if the best solution has been found ..
I just saw the headlines of the paper today. Foxhunters went on a sort of protest thing I think and hunted and killed 250foxs "legally". There is loopholes in this thing.
Who is enforcing the legisation anyway? I watched countryfile this morning (crazy) and it was a couple of blokes following the hunt with clipboards, and thats just the organised hunt trails. What if I bought a rottweiler, smacked it up with a blood transfusion and set it on foxes outside of haddiescoe? Answer... COUNTRY-MAN! Paul Mckowizitz is a high flying LA Attourney, but when he dons a flat cap and smokes five hundred rollups he becomes COUNTRY MAN, fighting for the unenforcable laws of the countryside, dealing out natures justice. With bellowing cries of "Shit Off." to lawbreakers (and anyone else who happens to pass him by) COUNTRY MAN will uphold the intergrity of the animal kingdom! Hoorah!
oh dear god what shall i ever do without my hound fox hunting!!!!....sit here and keep not-caring CHEERIO TO YA'LL
Poor lil foxies.. they're so cute. I don't know why anyone would think hunting an animal is a sport. It's a cold blooded kill IMO. Welcome to 2005 you freakin' fox killin' jerks .. hmm sometimes things really DO change for the better ! As far as that loophole goes.. I'm not surprised. There aren't many laws that don't have a loophole. GRRRRR.
A lot of people have posted saying they are pleased with the fox hunting ban coming into force, not many have gone into their reasons "why" they are happy though. just a thought.. As for me personaly, I would not hunt for any other reason than to feed or clothe myself, and if I owned land, I wouldn't allow Fox hunting on it. But at the same time, I would not deny another's right to do so.
They have, probably a bit sick of repeating themselves ?.. Imho most just see the death of a animal other than for food as wrong..Some even for food, pisses some off as well... Not a lot has altered and i think the 'fight' will go on.. It should have been resolved a long time ago. The thing is with out a full and unquestionable ban with absolutly no loopholes then some will still not be happy.. because 'toffs' are still getting on horse back and chasing the 'cute' lil things.. Foxes are going to 'culled' anyway so i think it is the element of 'sport' that infuriates some .. but i think this is sometimes overplayed sometimes to uphold a arguement of the 'senseless' nature of fox hunting. Morality 'class wars' suffering etc etc have been gone over i will find the threads if you want ? The bonhomie of posters is not a true reflection of their 'beliefs' just as i said i don't think any ones up for going over this one again ?. sure someone will though saying that .
