I was just writing in the other thread this quote and then saw this thread. How weird.

    Hamlet:

"I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams."

Except I say the dreams are good. To a person caught up in the nut, paying bills and playing video games, they may be feverish, frightening, apocolyptic--- but to a rainbow they are empowering, liberating and beautiful. Even in the woods the nutshell is everywhere, brother. It's not the nutshell you need to think about, it's the dreams!

If you have a gathering towards the end of the summer I'll go!

    LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOVOVVVVEEEE YYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUU

Babylon. Let me tell you all something. I am so glad that I am not the only person who sees this "system" for what it is. I am currently becoming more and more aware of how bound I am. Here's the irony; I am currently finishing a bachelor's degree at babylon's biggest university. I thought that getting an education would be a good way to make sense of my disenfranchisement (word?) but instead I feel like I'm no longer selling out, I'm buying in. Will ther be a day when us like minded folks will be able to permentally live free of the institutionalized smog? Why are we not planning for that? Maybe we should? Any takers?

I got this from a glossary from one of the links on welcomehome:

    Babylon
The world outside of the Gathering. `Mainstream' or `mainline' society; the `straight' world (From the Book of Revelations, via Rastafari).

From what I've read, it is usually talked about as being a negative thing.

yes, babylon is the word used for society. The system, the people in it, the way they all flock together and follow it...

Can someone explain the rastifari reference to babylon for me. Are you saying that they attached the old testement meaning to westren civilization?

    Quick survey

If given the chance to escape babylon and it's tentacles, what kind of utopia would you create? What would be the structure? Creed? Location? Overall theme? These are the first things. What is the vision. We all agree that this is not the right way to live. I'm curious as to what points we agree on concerning the "right" way to live.

Have fun with your answer. You never know how much impact it could have on someone.

Sounds kinda like what I'm going to be doing, but I'm doing it in late June, going to the Rainbow Nationals, then living out of a pack for an undetermined amount of time.

To tell the truth there are people planning so that we like minded beautiful spirited people will be able to live free, i'll give you a link to whatermelonheads they're a group trying to network the family together so we won't have to worry about anything, from rides to places to stay when its cold out http://melonheads.villagevisionaries.net, I'm bound in babylon by probation but fortunately it ends in three or four months but unfortunately i'm going to be going to school afterwards to become a nursing assistant then i think i'm going to skip around to a few gatherings then come back and go to nursing school. I want to become a nurse to help out at C.A.L.M.

Exodus's Loki; brother, in the future, stick to herbal medicine, ganja, ...i assure you you won't be getting into the trouble that alcohol can bring down...Our collective prayers go out to all family trying and succeeding in breaking free from alcohol addictions!!! A true product of babylon!
