Snow again. I guess somwhere thre is a coke addict waking up looking out the window thinking "I'm in heaven"
100% overcast, low ceiling, and 31° at 0800, the warmest it'll be today. Last night's rain turned to sleet and frosted everything with a light glaze. Roads are supposed to be slicker than water on oiled grease; our wheelchair ramps certainly are.
Snow.... Could be enough to consider myself snowed in. I will have to see if the 4X4 can manage the driveway or not later today.
It’s amazing once you get acclimatized to the cold weather, just the slightest warm spell and you feel you're ready to wear shorts and a t-shirt
Still waiting for that one really big blockbuster snowstorm this year, but this isn’t it. You know the type of storm that goes down in the record books and people talks about for decades like the Great Blizzard of 1888, the 100 consecutive hours of snow in 1969, the Blizzard of 1978, the Great Blizzard of 1993, The April Fools’ Day snowstorm of 1997, or Blizzard Nemo in 2013, Winter Storm Watch Start 7:00 AM EST, Thursday, February 18 End 7:00 PM EST, Friday, February 19 Source: U.S. National Weather Service WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. WHAT...Heavy snow and mixed wintry precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze possible WHERE...Northern Connecticut, Rhode Island, and most of Massachusetts except Cape Cod and Islands. WHEN...From Thursday morning through Friday evening. IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
Temps are becoming unstable. That means spring is around the corner and we slowly but surely warming up.

So... a couple of days ago I hooked up my first "emergency" propane tank. (after dragging it to a location where I can hook it up... Didn't damage my back or my hernia too bad... didn't help them, though) I have one more 100 pound emergency tank... (which also needs to be drug over to where I can hook it up.) They last about 4 - 6 days depending on how cold and windy it is outside. I've been keeping my house temperature at 67 degrees... My comfort level is above 73 degrees, even with layered clothing. My bedroom temperature is set at 59. (Two furnaces in this place... They are new, energy efficient designs.) At this rate, both emergency tanks will be empty long before anybody can get in and out of my driveway. There is a combined 20 inches of snow out there, where it hasn't drifted. Drifts are higher. I drove out to the mailbox yesterday with the 4X4 and it was pushing snow with the front bumper... Today it will be worse. Did I mention it was snowing? There are ice jams at the edge of my roof that are over 12 inches thick and they have already worked their way under the shingles. The shingles were installed with "ice guard" which is supposed to stop that from happening, obviously, it didn't. If the ice gets far enough under the shingles it starts leaking into the house, down into the walls and through the ceiling. There are icicles off the edge of the roof that are connected to the ground like a frozen waterfall. The roof is still covered with snow, which as it melts makes this situation worse. Weather forecast remains the same intermittent snow falls and below freezing temperatures for the next ten days, likely it will be longer, but they only forecast out ten days. When it does warm up above freezing during the day but freezing over night it will turn all this mess into wet ice... Did I mention nobody will be getting in and out of my driveway? You know what? Weather sucks....
