Unfortunately mine has a 2.5mm jack charging lead. Years of talking for up yo 8 hours a day, sometimes connected to the charger took it's toll on the fine pin and it's connection to the phones motherboard, leaving it intermittent. During it's working life, it clocked up talktime equivalent to 8 months 24/7 use. It also exhausted 3 batteries. It was one of the few phones that Nokia failed to build in obsolescence, mostly by an electrolytic capacitor at the peak of i's parameters. Today Iphone are doing the same, but these days by conflicting updates with the previous firmware. When people buy a new phone and are amazed by the speed, they do not realize that it is exactly the same as their previous model when it was new.
Silly me, I never thought of that, since all previous Nokia phones had multi contact sockets which varied with almost every model. They were a complete pain, since Nokia designated the pins differently to the industry standard AV cables. My old phone has a hidden mini USB port that may work to charge, however the new phone is micro USB, so I am unable to try it at the moment. I believe that the Iphone cable is mini, so hopefully I will be able to try it out in the next few days.
When I am away from home, I would rather use a mobile phone than a public phone, but I am not one for endless texting.
I don't understand why people are paranoid about giving out their phone numbers these days. With a smart phone, if anyone starts bothering you, there is the option to block them.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. I had two Sony Xperia phones before this but after this I might be a Xiaomi user for life. So much value for money and still getting major MiUI upgrades for it.
A lady friend is giving me her 4 year old iphone 7 when her new iphone arrives. I hope to discover another dimension of freedom with that piece.
Pixel 3xl....had about 5 from the pixel line in the family and they've been ultra reliable. Not to mention getting updates almost immediately
Just bought a new Moto G. I had dropped my 4 yr old LG in a lake. They glue the damn battery in now so you can't remove it to power off. I tried to dry it out but it no good.
Got my very first mobile of my own last week (mate's had one for years; can't pry it from her hands). It's a Motorola G Power with a voluminous SD card. It's on a MVNO piggy-backed onto AT&T's network, which seems to give me coverage 95% of where I go (nobody has coverage in the high mountains); infinitely better than hers (I unlocked hers and got her on an AT&T MVNO too). So far, in addition to the usual things like Gmail, Google Calendar, Chrome browser, text messenger, and a note-taking app (I'm quite forgetful), it has a meditation app (Insight Timer), Braw Tuner (a bagpipe tuner), Peak Finder (shows names of mountains), Cornell University's Merlin ID (names birds), Sky Map (names stars); it even makes telephone calls. Still want a good compass/GPS. Any suggestions of other useful Android apps?
