There are many ways to tell--If the ends of your hair look full and thick, you're fine. Split ends make your hair look stringy. Another way to tell is take a lock of your hair and look at the ends (if it's long enough). You can see split ends on individual strands of hair. You can also pinch a lock of hair midway through and pull your fingers down and see how many strands of hair fall out of your grip before you reach the end. Take it from me, I've had long hair since 8th grade.

BTW:It's really unhealthy for your hair if you have split ends. The split end can continue to break all the way up to your scalp and can effect the hairs future growth. It also looks trashy, IMO.

I'm growing my hair out and never cutting it again. It's almost down to my shoulders....

trim the ends every 3 months or so, it makes your hair grow faster, and look better

while i was growing my hair it had to be trimmed at the ends to help it grow stronger and healthier.

I stopped cutting off the ends years ago. People told me all the same things about it growing better and that it would get longer eventually but it only ever got shorter from doing so. It doesn't get longer now either, but it's less of a hassle and at least it doesn't end up getting shorter all the time.

I'm growing my hair too.. People keep telling me that I will have to trim the ends off to keep it healthy. It's not even to my shoulders yet however so I will give it some time and then do it.

oh no! please don´t do that!!

there´s a special cut for hair with split and frizzy ends...

take small sections of hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion. any split ends will automatically stick out.
carefully snip into the twist with sharp scissors.
don’t cut right through; just cut into the thickness to remove the damaged cuticles and give a natural layered effect.
be careful to cut roughly the same amount from each twist.

(taken from http://www.free-beauty-tips.com/splitends.html) - it really works !!

to strengthen your hair you can use non-coloured henna - it repairs damaged hair and it looks thick and glossy.

Actually I probably wouldn't have read this if the title was fixed. I don't know if it was intentional or not but good attention grabber nonetheless. :)
As for hair, who cares? I thought we were here to talk about groins.

I had long hair for years. Never cut it regularly. Yeah, i had split end. I used to brush my hair and I always had a brush full of hair. My roommates hated finding my hair all over the place, cause I used to shed all the time. But you know what, my hair is thick as hell even today, and i never had any negative effects from not cutting my hair.

ignore the above post, everytime i trim my hair it shoots out, its like dead heading a plant...everytime you cut the ends off it grows back faster and longer and better quality...
