Trump's three approaches to trying to overturn the election result.

Alito orders segregation of some Pennsylvania ballots; is it a 'nothingburger'?

    excerpt:

"Harrow divides Trump’s election disputes into three categories.

The first is a recount, which is automatic in Georgia and requested in Wisconsin. Harrow said Trump lost Wisconsin by nearly 20,000 votes, yet the average flip in a recount is 282 votes. The only statewide presidential recount that ever flipped was in Hawaii in 1960, when about 300 votes flipped from Richard Nixon to John F. Kennedy, giving Kennedy a narrow victory in the state.

The second category, “pure shenanigans,” is for lawsuits that wouldn’t make a difference even if successful. Harrow puts Pennsylvania litigation in this category.

The third category, “Hail Mary,” is the “wild idea” of having state legislatures appoint Trump’s favored electors even though he lost in the vote count.

Harrow argues that doing that would violates voters’ fundamental right to cast a vote and have it actually count. He also said it would violate federal law requiring presidential electors to be chosen on Election Day, and it would violate Pennsylvania law setting the popular vote as the way to choose electors.

“That’s not to mention it would be seen as a coup and lead to mass protests, riots or worse,” he wrote.

Trump and Republicans have made little headway in election litigation, according to the Washington Post and Bloomberg Law."

The Times Called Officials in Every State: No Evidence of Voter Fraud

The president and his allies have baselessly claimed that rampant voter fraud stole victory from him. Officials contacted by The Times said that there were no irregularities that affected the outcome.

Back after a few VERY busy months.

I was watching a documentary of the rise of the 3rd Reich in Germany a day ago. It was very thorough in it's documentation of the tactics and actual people involved in the "storm trooper" propaganda and subsequent armed storm trooper actions. The accusations by Hitler and his minions about the government of Germany, and it's "legality", caused the people of Germany - in increasing numbers - to doubt and question Chancellor Hindenburg's position as the "legally elected" leader of Germany.

Many of the propaganda tactics of fascists like Hitler and his minions such as taking to the streets with arms and using threats, violence, and segregation of "undesirables", (Jews, blacks, Polish people, Catholics, physically challenged / disabled, and more), casting doubt on election results and the election system itself, undermining the confidence of the population, etc. .............................. are all happening right now pre- and post-election ........................... here in the U.S.A.

You know ............................. where THAT'LL NEVER HAPPEN. ....................................... Look around ................ watch .............. listen. Re-live a horrible chapter in human history.

"Those who do not learn from history are DOOMED to repeat it."

I don't think there is a whole lot he can do about it, and he'll cave into trump's wishes.

Why is trump mad at haskel?
maybe he just wants to put one of his minions in her place.

Georgia will conduct a hand recount. Results aren't expected to be released until at least Nov. 20.

Biden is currently leading Trump in Georgia by about 14,000 votes.

1,348 U.S. coronavirus deaths on November 10 and Trump is spreading a conspiracy narrative that Pfizer intentionally damaged his election by not disclosing promising vaccine results before the election.

Miller is replacing Esper as defense secretary.

Miller is known for his counter-terrorism expertise.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...a4296e-22d0-11eb-8599-406466ad1b8e_story.html

    excerpt:

"Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), said that she worked with Miller during her time as a Pentagon official in the Obama administration, and more recently during his time at the National Counterterrorism Center.

“It is critical that he, and all senior Pentagon leaders, remember that they swore an oath to the Constitution, not any one man,” she said. “With that oath comes a commitment to the peaceful transition of power. All leaders must decide what they will do in the next 72 days. I strongly urge Acting Secretary Miller to remember that the country and the military he has dedicated his life to are counting on him to do the right thing.”"

The battleground states of WI, MI, PA, GA, and AZ that Biden tentatively won have state legislatures controlled by Republicans.

Trump would need about 3 or 4 of those states to flip the electoral count for him to win. He could in principle do it by having the Republican-controlled legislatures of a sufficient number of states designate Trump-favored electors instead of those determined by the state popular vote if the recounts don't go his way (which they likely won't).

WI, MI, PA, and NV have Democratic governors who could veto legislative action that attempts to flip states to Trump.

Trump appears to be focusing on PA, GA, and AZ as the three states he would need to flip the election result.

Such a scenario would probably cause civil unrest. If Trump is planning on causing such a extreme situation, he might want to find a Trump-loyal defense secretary and other military officials who don't have any issues with using federal military troops to quash civil unrest.

Esper, whom Trump fired after the election (apparently to not spoil his election chance), disagreed with Trump's desire to use military troops to quash the type of civil unrest that was occurring during the summer of 2020.

Esper says he doesn't support using active duty troops to quell civil unrest

Such as scenario is unlikely, but in Trump's mind, he may think it will happen and could be conducting a preemptive purge of officials in the military who he feels might not be aligned with his way of thinking.

lol. In this case, it's not what "they"know or what "they" can prove but what "they" can allege and get morons and li'l puppy dogs to believe--"they" being the Trump cult. So far, not a shred of evidence. Nothing but allegations, that court after court has turned down. Meanwhile the virus rages on and out national security is endangered, as the Prez fires all the competent people in the Pentagon and replaces them with ass-kissing hacks. And you think this is intelligent? And patriotic? lol

    Details of Trump's election lawsuits.

GOP-led states back Trump’s legal drive to challenge election

    excerpt:

"Later Monday, the Trump campaign broadened its legal assault on the electoral results in Pennsylvania by filing a new federal lawsuit challenging the state’s procedures for mail-in voting, as well as what the campaign calls illegal and unfair treatment of its poll watchers. The suit seeks to block Pennsylvania officials from certifying the outcome of the election until mail-in and absentee votes are verified through some unspecified process.

The 85-page complaint names as defendants Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar and seven “Democrat-heavy” counties.

“Nothing less than the integrity of the 2020 Presidential election is at stake in this action,” the Trump suit declares.

The suit complains of various practices, including decisions by some counties to notify voters whose mail-in ballots appeared to be packaged incorrectly of that fact so that they could “cure“ their ballot or seek to cast a new one. Some of the counties have said that was their longstanding practice and that lists of such ballots were sent to representatives of both political parties.

The campaign’s complaint also includes anecdotal allegations of voters receiving ballots they didn’t request, of arriving at the polls and being told their ballots had already been cast by mail, and of ballots being thrown away."

GOP-led states back Trump’s legal drive to challenge election

    excerpt:

"However, the suit does not allege that there were enough such instances to overcome the more than 45,000-vote lead that President-elect Biden currently enjoys in the Pennsylvania tally.

The only claim in the suit that seems to get into that numerical range is an assertion that more than 680,000 ballots were processed in Allegheny and Philadelphia counties “without review” by political parties or candidates. But the suit even admits that poll watchers were in the room, while contending that observers were placed “far away from the action” in large rooms."

With Esper gone, Democrats concerned over what Trump will do with the military

    excerpt:

"House Armed Services Chair Adam Smith (D-Wash.) said Trump's upending the Pentagon leadership will exacerbate the "unique threats" facing the U.S. during the presidential transition.

"Dismissing politically appointed national security leaders during a transition is a destabilizing move that will only embolden our adversaries and put our country at greater risk," Smith said in a statement. "President Trump’s decision to fire Secretary Esper out of spite is not just childish, it’s also reckless."

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) said he had “no doubt” Esper was fired because he didn’t go along with Trump’s policies.

"I hope that President Trump does nothing in the next 11 weeks that puts Gen. Milley and the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a position where they will need to make a partisan decision on a civilian, political matter," Moulton said.

Mick Mulroy, a former deputy assistant secretary of Defense under Trump, also blasted Trump for firing Esper during a volatile presidential transition.

“Stability at the Department of Defense during this time of the transition is very important. Secretary Esper’s leadership in keeping the military out of any domestic political issues and the continuity of the chain of command was very critical. Replacing him now was not responsible,” Mulroy said."

With Esper gone, Democrats concerned over what Trump will do with the military

    excerpt:

"In an effort reminiscent of the derogatory comments Trump made about Mattis leading up to his departure, the president has repeatedly undermined Esper in public in recent months, even openly mocking his Pentagon chief. When asked during an August press conference whether he had confidence in Esper's leadership, Trump referred to him derisively as "Mark 'Yesper,'" before hinting that he may not be long for the job.

"Mark Yesper? Did you call him Yesper?" Trump said. "I consider firing everybody. At some point, that's what happens.""

AP FACT CHECK: Trump’s claims on vaccine, election are wrong

    excerpt:

    "ELECTION

TRUMP: “Georgia will be a big presidential win, as it was the night of the Election!” — tweet Monday.

THE FACTS: He’s falsely suggesting that any ballot counted after Election Day in Georgia and other states is illegitimate and illegal. In fact, that is explicitly allowed in roughly 20 states, and the Supreme Court did not stand in the way of it.

Trump refused to concede and said he will press his legal challenges, despite seeing several lawsuits dismissed by courts."
