Often times he can, there are counters that keep statistics from which country you get the visits, at what time of the day, what kind of browser the visitors are using, etc... often times they can even see the exact IP address, but he'll have to do an IP lookup to see where it's from... do you call in locally? Sometimes your ISP won't show exactly where you're at, I think my ASDL account only shows I'm in the Netherlands and have XS4all as my provider, but my previous dial-up showed which city you called in on... like amsterdam-3.provider.net or utrecht-6.provider.net if you happened to be called in to the third modem of their modem banks in Amsterdam, or the sixth in Utrecht.
You can look up your own IP and see what information it gives.

yes, that's actually pretty common. the page you came from, and your ip address, which can be traced back to you.

what you want, is a proxy. an in-between for your computer and the rest of the internet.

    http://proxify.com/

    is one such thing.
it will make it so the admin of the site only see's the proxy going to the site, and your computer was never there.

True, but even looking up most IP's won't show the TRUE location...for example, my IP address says I'm in Hickory (which is only an 1 1/2 drive, but still...)

Either way, unless he knows YOUR IP address, then he won't know who's IP it is hitting his server...more than likely, your IP is just one of many and it's highly unlikely that he would notice it. ;)
