anyone know what i can do other then high school cause im pretty much fucked im failing three classes and i only have 12 1/2 credits and i need 26
get a GED then start work...cant think of much else. Id try and get my shit together and finish tho because its stupid not too(im not saying your dumb), but I figure your already there might as well try and save face and do decent and finish school.
As someone who left high school and started college when I was 16, I say just drop out now and get your GED. High school is worthless, and if you are going to fail anyway, you might as well just quit while you are ahead. You can have your GED and be working before anyone else has graduated. ...fuck I hated high school.
im failing becasue there is way to much work and i have no motavation to get it done my high school is realy dumb we need 26 credits in 4years we have 5 classes a day each for about and hour and 20 mintues each and an hour of home work a class then half way though the year we swich to new classes basicly if you miss more then 3 days out of the year your so behind in work that you fail also passing is 70 or higher andthing 69 or lower you fail
Getting your HS education is important... it means you can try and get post secondary education when you're ready for it. If you do it now, it'll cost a lot less than dropping out and having to sign up for adult classes (or at least, that's how it works here in Canada) Talk to your school counsellor. Maybe you can drop your coarseload down to 4 classes and agree to take another year of school. Maybe you should look into tutoring - that way you're paying someone to basically make you do the work, instead of just sitting on your ass playing games (like I do!) Besides, you're only 15... you still have a few more years of HS left anyways, right? Most people graduate when they're 17 or 18, so you have a few more years to figure out how to approach HS in such a way taht you actually want to pass it.
Nice one. And I agree with everyone, try to finish it! You probably heard this many times before, but you'll regret it for the rest of your life if you don't.
if you can't get your lazy unmotivated self up for high school, you do NOT have the discipline for a job or starting community college early (voice of experience). this is your only dry run. You could do online high school, but if motivation is aproblem, you'll fail there, too.
you need to be 17 to drop out unless you have your parents permission. then if you wanna get your ged, i think you need a letter from an employer saying theyll hire you if you get one. basically, youre going to rot in school for another two years, unless your parents are cool with you dropping out. i know how you feel though. its easy to be unmotivated when the teachers have no passion and cant make the classes interesting because they dont care enough. the staff at my school was so indifferent that when i went to my guidance counceler and said, 'i think i might drop out' she said, 'i think thats a good idea'. i left and got my ged instead. if youre really serious about leaving and your parents arent cool with it, you have two years to find something that motivates you to learn. high school isnt for everyone, but dont become like those miserable teachers at your school. find something to be passionate about.
Good Enough Diploma My friend got kicked outta high school senior year by a principal that liked to go on power trips (i had him senior year at this high school i went to, then he got moved, but anyway) for burning wheels in the parking lot, and was told not to drive, so he went back the next day in his car, only to be met later in the day by pigs in full blown guns cuffs and the works. So he just got his GED and got a job, and now at 17 hes making 30k a year...
Just because high school fucking sucks, it doesn't necessarily mean you're lazy or unmotivated. I think that high school really just isn't for some people. All through middle school, I was a great student, made mostly a's, made the honor roll every report card since elementary school...but when I got to high school, everything just shot to hell. I was going through so much stress, I hated my fucking school,I hated the jerks who went to my school, shit with my parents was messed up...at one point, I had a GPA of like a 0.5 or something extremely fucked up. My high school was so shitty - my guidance counselor told me, "If you hate school so much, why don't you just drop out?" My jaw dropped when he said that. Its not something you expect your guidance counselor to tell you. A lot of people look down on a GED, but its not that bad as long as you do something with it. I got mine at 16. Its VERY easy to pass. I don't think the prep classes that are offered are necessary at all. I didn't do anything to prepare except wake up and take the test one Saturday. If you do drop out of school, don't wait on getting the GED. Get it right away. With your GED you can get in to a community college - and if you do good, you can transfer somewhere from there. College (@ least where I went) was so much different than high school. Its bigger, people aren't all in your business like high school...its just a different environment. (But I guess that all depends on where you go.) And since you're so young, you can start off with just a class or 2 and not have to worry about falling behind. Even if you don't go to college, you can still make something of your life. I'd rather work than go to school, because you get something for it (a paycheck!) I hated school because I felt like I was doing all that work and getting nothing in return. I think if I got a paycheck for school work, I would have been a lot more motivated (lol)
yeah my dad even says when i work with i work as hard as everyone else im right on the ball moving and working and doing a very good job because i know in the end i will be 60$ richer money is something, a peace of paper saying i wasted my younger years is bullshit
You can get a bigger paycheck if you go to college.... Plus you gain the one thing no one can ever take away from you- your education. Though you can get an ok job without graduating or going to college, you'll be hardpressed to crack 35K-40K a year. Maybe it's just me but I think that college and learning should be THE most important thing, above anything else, because in my mind, what kid is going to respect a parent who doesn't get an education and can't make a good living for their child? I know I have much less respect for my dad because he dropped out than I do for my mom. I guess if you walk into high school having a negative mindset, then that's your choice. If you think positively, you manifest your own experience and it will be better. If you slack off and whine about it then that's your problem and it will never ever be a decent experience for you.
I dont' really agree with the whole "college gets you places". Yes, it can, but i know a lot of people who have college degrees and ain't making much more than 25k a year. I believe in "World University" where you get into the real world, see what you really want in life, and then if so choose, go to college. It does me no good to see 20 years olds who went to college right after high school and still have no clue what to do with it or are not prepared for the world out there. I live ten minutes away from the University of Delaware and I can't even keep up with the number of kids who drop out every year because they would rather be working. Neither one of my parents went to college, and i have no less respect for them. They gave me something more valuable than any amount of money. My husband (no college degree, barely completed high school with all the added stress) works with almost all GED people, and right now, they make 20+ an hour taking pallets out of a freezer. So at that much an hour, at 40-60 hours a week, comes out to a nice sum. I just don't like it when people look down at a GED or someone with no college education. School is not for everyone. 80% of work with an average teacher is filler, they have 60 course hours (maybe more maybe less it is a state by state thing) they legally have to fill, I've only had 3 teachers who filled it with anything resembling relevant, I'm using nevada's system of getting a normal diploma via ged (waives all credits but health and government, Might not waive history either but I got an A in that class so who cares) I go t sick of burning off my soul in the pyres of 6 hours of contrived busyness, see if your state has something like nevada's system, try to waive credits and get a straight diploma + a job, then you'll have it all.
Actually, 16 is the age of consent for dropping out of school. At least in my state and those around me.
Thats an amazing book. i quit and have been learning much more outside of school. Although i am going back to school its because i dont know what i want to do and a diploma would open more doors. right now i work at a&w, most people there are dropouts or ged's i dont look down on them for that, but the system does. all in all, a diploma is a good thing to have, and thats all you need school for.
