Peace, for you older folks what do you think is the best and the worst thing about being older? later the tired flower child
Man, being old is just part of Maya. It's all an illusion. It's who you are on the inside. (Until you throw out your back and break your hip.) j/k
LOL What a question! A great thing is more confidence And there's more finanicial security (my car is broken less and I own a mortgage) A bummer thing is my health is not as good. And I'm having to be my Dad's guardian and my Mom and all my brothers are dead.
For me the best thing about being older is cops now kiss my butt. I think the worst part about getting old is some things just don't work as well as they did 20 years ago..
What is old? The body may ache from time to time but the mind is ever young. I know people who "think" old, and they ARE old...and I know 70 year old people who think young and they ARE young. To me it's a state of mind. The body sometimes reminds us that we are not ALL mind....but what the hell it's only a shell that will be shed when its served its purpose.
life keeps gettin better. at least for men it does. im not sure about women, they have it pretty good when they are young. for me it gets better, a lil slower but better. most folks tell me that thier 40's are the best.
It is all in the mind and the soul. If your heart is young and your spirit is strong, you live in the Now Moment where the past and the present are only an instant away. You are more aware of your own presence, your own energy, and how to use it, and bless others with it. Its kind of like an internal smile, where you love who you are and how you are, and you feel a Oneness with life and nature. You've seen many summers and many winters, but they are never the same! You know by now that no matter WHAT happens, you can handle it. Probably because you've been through so much disgusting shit that you almost feel bullet-proof. Kind of the oldies version of the "invincibility feeling" of youth. When I was sixteen, I could not possibly imagine myself being over 25...nah...just impossible! Then when in my thirties I counted up how old I would be when the New Millenium arrived and I thought - "oh my god, I'll never be THAT old!"...but here I am. The thing is, if you feel young and think young age is only skin-deep. What you have gained along the way is magnetism, wisdom, and a deep and abiding sexiness than can never be manufactured and sold to the young (thank god).
Hi everyone, I'm new here. Problem with old age is my teeth are falling out. Caused by smoking; 10-20 joints a day for 30 years. Feel better than ever otherwise.
**lol** thank you for sharing this problem with us ) have you ever tasted dutch vla ? it´s delicious after a joint and you don´t need to have teeth to eat it.... http://www.dutchsweets.com/pudding.php
Ha, I love being older. The worst part is when people stereotype you for being an older person, with preconceived ideas. But I'm finding more and more that there are a lot of people who DON'T do that. Renews my faith, thanks all. We're all just people, individuals, whatever our age. I look forward to a time and space when we are all just beings, with no physical limitations. Which age is, in a way, whether young or old. Our true self comes through if others only care to try to find that. I look for it in others, and hope they look for it in me too.
Why is it so hard to lose weight when you are a bit older? That's my main problem... And I agree with you Mimosa...we are all just beings...and I just feel really "rich" inside myself now (what a shame it hasn't happened on the outside too)
Main problem with old age is the risk of encroaching senility; What we will need is a psychedelic rest home, where the cherished norms of Hippie-life can be maintained right up to the very end. Can someone with loads of dosh please arrange for this to happen?
What's old? Your spirit is ageless. We go on after this experience, to be in another demention another time and space. To learn other lessons to perfect ourselves. At least this is what I like to believe.
The best part of getting "old" is not caring what others think so much...being more of who you are without feeling the need to justify. You just are! And being able to accept the differences in others as well. The worst part? Haven't gotten to the worst part yet! LOL, what a funny, sweet question. Just always remember that Life is Beautiful. The more you survive with grace and dignity intact, the more wisdom you accumulate. And stay on a healthy lifestyle from the getgo...control negative emotions, eat and exercise well, get lots of fresh air and sunshine and practice random acts of kindness.
I'm with you there Marcus - re the senility issue - one phrase to remember is "Use it or lose it". My mum is quite elderly now and when she was 70 she went to night school to learn all about computers (coz she thought it would be interesting). She taught herself to type and now she emails us all (her 6 grown up kids). And she plays card games for about an hour every afternoon - like Gin Rummy etc- with my step father. And I'm with you about the rest homes. If I ever get enough money I'll try to arrange it. Instead of outings to the museum, we'll have Harley rides around the neighbourhood...I can see them now all lined up outside the rest home - big burly bearded bikers waiting to take the oldies on a cool ride, with "Born to Be Wild" blaring in the background. Then we'll have "co-ed" sleeping facilities, Viagra on tap, Tie Dye classes, Yoga and Transcendental Meditation...We'll form our own band - yeah, how about "The Grateful Alive" he he he
I thought only Goddesses (and Gods) were physically immortal - so how are you gonna manage that Lotus?
