Great songs that trail off and after 1 or 2 minutes of singing, go to 5 minutes of *just* annoying instrumental crap! Like Ramblin' Man, Layla, Light my Fire... Wow, I just realized this happened mainly in the 70s...Curse them! Curse them all!
Or like, Magic Carpet Ride trails off with SHIT like a freaking piano thingy and another unknown instrument...it angers me so
The instrumental swell bridge at the end of Layla is my favorite part of the song. And . . . . Well, nevermind. What did make me angry, however, is in the song "Bowl of Oranges" by Bright Eyes, he trails off after the song is over to plinking piano notes and percussion-al noises. This wouldn't bother me so much, except that because of that uselessness that goes on for an entire minute, I was unable to fit "Pure Imagination" you know, Willy Wonka, on my "Hold off on killing yourself for atleast another 80 minutes" mix. But I'm over it.
It's soooooooo annoying in "Light My Fire".... In a lot of songs tho, it's awesome... ya gotta love the instrumentals...
oh, those. they're great! they're usually short and you don't get sick of them, and often they're more musically experimental than some of the others
Noone can diss Freebird....that solo is well class! Light My Fire is too! Layla is abit repetitive but I like it too....
i really like all of those songs. i agree that that can be annoying, but really just when it's five minutes of shit. as long as it's a good jam then it's okay. Layla was with Duane Allman, so that added a whole jam element to the song, which i really liked. speaking of that song, when i saw Clapton over the summer, he had Robert Randolph and the Family Band opening for him, and in Clapton's second encore, Robert Randolph came out and played with him. i just realized that it wasn't Layla that i was thinking of for them playing together, it was Sunshine of Your Love, but it was still really sweet! Peace and Love --pW--
