Doctoring an ID so you appear 21

Problem: I'm going to california in a few weeks, going to meet up with some friends who are 21. I'm 20. Bummer. How do I resolve this terrible, terrible, situation? I've never gotten a fake ID before, nor would I know how to go about it, or where to go to get one.

But I do have a CT drivers liscence that I could potentially doctor. It has an "under 21 until" date in big, red letters, as well as my birthdate. This is all underneath an laminated seal, with holigrams. I am not sure if the holograms are on the seal or on the card underneath it. I suppose if I were to remove the laminated seal I could use a red marker to alter the dates, then relaminate it. But then, if the holigrams were on the seal, they would be lost. Of course, this might not mean anything to someone in califnornia, who doesnt know anything about CT drivers liscences

Then there is also the problem of the bar code at the bottom. I have heard that many bars actually scan your liscence to make sure your 21. is this true? if it is, there is no point in doctoring the ID at all, cus i couldnt get past this obstacle.

That leaves me with one option. getting a totally fake ID. is this usually done by buying someone elses ID that looks like you? or do they take your picture and print up a completely fake ID? Where would I go?

I have about two weeks to do this, ANY help would be EXTREMELY helpful

TRying to change a connecticuts license will just ruin it... you wont be able to get it to look right... is it one of the new ones... Your unders so its tall as appose to longs... Dont try it... Make friends with a girl at the DVM and have them make you a fake on... Try to alter a college id... alot of bars take them as ids... there much easier to fake

 

Do all bars card you now? Back when I was in Dallas, most bars didn't; I didn't go out often -I'm not an outgoing person when it comes to bars 'n such- but my friends did & they just went to another bar if the one they usually went to was checking... which was rare... In all the time I lived there, they never came home 'cause they couldn't find a bar that'd serve them and they never got busted either.

 

you should just wait til youre 21. You can still drink at home and at peoples cribs. Thats what i did.

Go to Canada instead. Drinking age is 18 or 19 here, depending on which province you hit (19 in SK, 18 in AL, don't know about anywhere else)

 

i been drinking since i was 11, i never needed no ID down here in cali, store clerks i know dont even care how old you are, just give em your money, no questions no harm

just ask your freinds to get ya shome drinks, pay a bum a couple bills to get it for you, think small

 

California is strict I had a stolen id because in the nicer bars they scan your bar code and call the police if it's fake. If you're coming to san diego you could always go down to mexico if you want to drink it's 18 down there. Just bring a guy with you as it can be dangerous.

 

I agree with another poster...just wait until you're 21. If your friends want to drink with you, have them buy the alcohol and bring it back home and party. It's really stupid to carry a fake ID. If you get caught, you'll be in pretty serious trouble. The bars here in Michigan have a light the bouncers put the card under that can tell if it's fake or not.

There are plenty of things to do in Cali that you don't have to be 21 to do.

 

I'm not sure on this, but wouldn't you get into more trouble if you get caught with a fake ID than if you were just underage drinking in a bar that didn't check? I mean, wouldn't it be an extra charge?

 

its really not that hard to drink in a club or a bar when your with people who are of age. i do it all the time when i go to a club. we pregame before hand and once inside the club, i'll get mixed drinks every so often...i'll just give my friend the money, he'll buy it and bring it back to the counter where were at and i'll just drink it there even though i have that stupid "X" on both my hand.

I know in canada in Onterio the drinking age is 19 and in Quebec it is 18

here in NY there is "under 21" in big red letters on the ID's so no faking mine.

just drink at home or with some buddies.

yea, canada is great just cuz of there drinking age...i frequent way too much and spend way too much money up there

 

I usually don't have problems when I'm out with friends that are over 21 since I look older because of my Beard. I have only been carded once in maybe a hundred times.
Even so I'm counting the days until I'm 21. Only 174 Days, 9 hours and 19 minutes left.

 

I'm closer to Mexico... its like Canada, but with culture.

 

whoever was the one who posted this thread to start with, is reading way to much into that. Man in Dallas there is a place for 60 dollars, you get two fake i.d.s and i have never once been turned down. I have had one since i was 17, and they always work. im sure if you ask around, theres quite a few places that will make them,there not hard to find a tall. you dont need to go through all that work of taking off the lamination and shit.
