Heya all... does anyone know how to make a teepi? ..... teepee... tipi... or even how to spell it would help me :p

Or do you have any links?

Basically one of my friends is doing her degree show and her design is 5 teepis in a circle linked by little corridors in between them, she basically has a VERY low budget so we need CHEAP ways to make teepi's if anyone has any ideas it would be muchly appreciated.

    Much llama love

umm...get a fat cat corperate sponsor? umm lol, or you could apply for a grant to do it...i know in wales the arts council give out grants to help struggling artists

so try http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/ see what they say, they may give you funding for it

but there are a host of other organisations that will be willing to help you...

just have a look around for stuff...

failing that i say that you should just use cheap materials, but i dunno really, looking for funding seemslike a good plan though!

Yea its her degree show so i duno if they fund them. I'll point it out to her. I guess she could approach a Teepee company who rents them and see if they will lend them to her for free advertising.

Back when we were planning to tipi for Giles' programme, we got some ideas from here...
    http://collections.ic.gc.ca/notukeu/tipi_e.htm
    its pretty damn helpful.
As for budgeting...we found dead thin trees for the poles, but I don't know if you'll find them very easily, and we just kind of sewed any pieces of canvas/tarpaulin/water proof sheets together that we could find. However, if you want them to look really good, thats not gonna happen with our technique!
Good look though, tipis are so much fun! I'll be building some later this year (if Giles will come help me!) so if you find any good materials or cheap things, I'd love to know where you got them from!
