    hi everyone,
im new to camping as of last june i had never EVER set foot in a tent. and then i spent three months non stop in one! it was great. the worst part though was, you know in the morning when it gets like an oven inside the tent and you have to get up.
well in light of this. do you think you could camp in india? and what kinda tent would you need?

Camping is the absolute best... I would sleep in a tent all year if i could (my car wouldnt like it) Even though tents get really hot i still love it... i would assume camping in india would be like camping anwhere else... you would probably want a normal tent with screens to keep the bugs out.. but aside from that i have no clue

Please check for the right tent, one with a double roof.
The outer roof sheds the sunlight. and beneath a two-inch gap, the inner roof is breathable.

Im not sure if you have a choice of seasons or elevation for your trip,
but those choices will be a key to comfort.

Here in New Jersey, summer is beach and bug season,
so we pretty much stay away.
    Camping in auttum is best.

It sure is much more fun when it's nice and cold, especially when it's raining. I remember camping in Israel by the Dead Sea once, in the middle of summer... Now that was hot.

Hammocks are great for summer camping. Hennesey hammock co. makes enclosed hammocks just for camping. Just remember to guy them out in case of high wind.

see www.campmor.com for great deals on hiking/camping equipment

when its really hot i sleep in the grass outside, if i am on rocks i put my sleeping bag out and sleep on it under the stars............ sleeping in a zipped up tent can be hot and get you all sweaty!

Yeah, tents are only good for two things: rain/snow, and bugs. I much prefer to sleep out under the sky.

Sieria(sp)Designs makes a great 3 season tent...it has lots of screen across the top for summer and a good fly, too.
I don't like to use a tent if the weather is good. When the sun is hot in the am, its past time to have broken camp for the day. Sleep late--- see less of what you travel for. I also like to begin hiking before the heat gets up.... staying on the move is cooler.
Also, small or no fire so as to see the stars.

Agreed on the fire, it's comforting, but not usually necessary.

As far as sleeping late, well, I find it hard to sleep past dawn when camping, I get in sync with the sun pretty easily, and so I'm usually up pretty early. It's really the best way to go.

i go camping right next to every single weekend. umm... if its a nice night out and you know its not gonna rain and the skeeters arent that bad, then just set out a piece of plastic, a sleeping pad, and maybe a lightweight bag out under the sky. You dont gotta worry about getting baked in a tent, and its really cool to wake up with the sun in your face. But if you have to use a tent, then just dont put the fly on, or zip down all the windows for you go to sleep
