I was microwaving my average bowl of soup when I thought it would be fancy to add corn to it. mmm fresh frozen corn. Unfortunately we didn't have any corn. Neither frozen nor canned (which is gross anyway) so I started to wonder what all else I could put in there. some of the things that cameup as options were black beans (no way. I hate beans.) Texas Pete's Red Hot sauce what else would you REALLY like to import into your daily bowl of soup? (just now I thought of bacon which if it didn't break your neck to make it I would make it every day).
uh, let's see... and other course it varies by the soup kind... cilantro, black beans, sour cream, chives, onions, chopped tomatoes, cheese, hot sauce, i cant think of too much else at the moment but i love adding stuff to soup. even more, i like MAKING soup from scratch.
I like my clam chowder the old fashioned way, using the traditional ingredients. I wouldn't add anything to it.
oops i didnt notice this was about a certain soup. doh. but in that case.. maybe a small amount of chopped up celery or celery seed.
If I was looking to spice up some NE clam chowder I would.... Simmer it for a couple hours after adding a little sherry, some fresh ground pepper and some roasted garlic
chopped clams.... celery.... onion.... potatoes.... cream.... roux..... clam base.... lemon pepper... dill.... cajun seasoning... seasoning salt... garlic.... theres the ingredients for one of the best clam chowders ever.....
I had a can of cream of mushrooms soup once and a few cans of various other things. I made it into a fucking awesome meal. 2 cans condenced cream of mushroom soup 1 small can of diced mushrooms 1 large can of green beans A fair amount of jalapeno peppers, salt, pepper, adobo seasoning. Boiled it and let it simmer until the mushrooms were cooked through. It was fucking awesome. I made everyone in the house try some.
If you have some cooked or uncooked salmon or haddock, add it in! It's a big chowder party here. Potatoes, in wedges (purple or red look great), vegetable stock (chicken works too) and Marmite.
That's always a good idea along with potatoes and chopped onions, and once served; top it off with a little butter and don’t forget the oyster crackers Hotwater
bell pepper, onion, celery, okra, garlic, red pepper...black pepper green pepper blue pepper and white
^^^this^^^ Some of these suggestions seem like sacrelige to me, but to each his own. Worst I might do is add a little ground white pepper... And that would be in a frisky mood, lol.
