Well, that's exactly what China did, move everyone infected no matter their age to a central location, remove them from the rest of the population, lock down the people looking after them with them as well. Have others deliver contactless supplies to them

And it worked, we may doubt those Chinese figures, but they are still only going to be 20% of, so maybe it was 6000 deaths instead of the official 4600, but that's still in a country of 1.4 billion, 11 Million just in Wuhan

No other country copied them, even thought to. If all these other countries more than pretended to care about the folks in nursing homes those aged care staff should have been locked down with them, throw them extra pay, make sure all necessities were delivered to them. This is what at least should have happened, and should have happened from the start.

But a central location, isolation camps, would have worked better. It wouldn't have made you feel warm and fuzzy, but less old people would have died

I make decisions, form opinions, on logic and common sense

Yeah... Fuck those people for thinking they are more than numbers and product to be tossed aside when they get old. How dare they think they are worth something. Fuck those people...

Hiding behind the backs of children, classy. Do you know what else does that? The African baboon. To avoid the wrath of the pack leader alpha male, the lower ranking males sometimes grab the babies from the females, and use the baby as a shield to calm the alpha down, to avoid getting a painful and scary beating.

Yeah, Bruce, I don't think you care about the children all that much here. I think that you're just narky from the fact that this pandemic is inconveniencing your perfect little life, and stopping you from doing what you want. Wanna talk about the future of today's children? It was already looking bad even before corona. We have climate change coming, with everything that it entails. We have a massive overpopulation here on this planet, along with the associated environmental destruction and entire species going extinct. We have right wing nutjobs doing politics that will ensure that the kids, as they reach adulthood, will never work a proper job in their lives, because all the meaningful manufacturing work was outsourced to cheap Asian labour, resulting in massive social unrest here when they have no way of earning a satisfying income. And you seem like the type that probably gleefully supported the policies that enabled all this to happen. Spare me from this "think of the children" talk.

As far as Sweden vs. Finland goes, my point stands. Sweden too could now have been in that sweet, sweet 0.006% death ratio instead of the much more appalling 0.04% if they had just bothered to take steps to protect their citizens. That difference still translates to thousands more (unnecessarily) dead. Japan vs. Netherlands, high population density in both, yes, but with the difference that the Japanese actually take the use of protective equipment seriously, whereas the Dutch threw a tantrum when asked to do something mutually beneficial, demonstrating thus the harmful effects of being a selfish twat. Altruism, people. We all have to sacrifice a little to make this bugger go away, so get to it.

Media kind of iced themselves from talking about the Rona huh?

Particularly if there is a political spin because they can't really backtrack now and talk about how deadly rona is if they're applauding these mass protests.

See McFuddy, they are only talking about themselves, what they think needs to happen to save their own necks, they don't all of a sudden in 2020 care about all these people in nursing homes across the world, certainly and obviously don't care what's happens to every generation younger

I'd a dip in the dpt to make sense of it..
Melted into the bed with no fucks to give.
    Think it's nonsense now.
    Isolated cells of insurrection..
Everything is very much normal around here..
Pgh is a trap city, only bridges in and out..
Uptown insurgency is quickly eliminated with limited force actually.
90% trouble making whites, quickly stopped by black community.. limited damage.

Massachusetts has audited every nursing home in the state, and those nursing homes that don't pass inspection do not receive any money.
Needless to say the vast majority passed inspection after the second audit, the nursing homes that haven't have one more chance and if they
don't pass inspection after the third audit, their license to operate may be revoked.

That's the way to handle nursing homes, through their pocket.

I hear you. But on the other hand people are inferring from your language that you devalue them. I can't figure out if that is your intent or not tho.

At any rate, can you at least tell me why this is an insult?

So, this guy died, if you remember him

Contracted Covid in January, face turned black in March because of liver trouble

Backlash in China after front-line doctor dies

Died 2nd June, four months after contracting the virus, the moral of the story, you get it, 4 months later you still might not be out of the woods

Just means stupid, doesn't come from the bird, it was either a racehorse or a greyhound with the same name that would always run into things or something

Drongo isn't offensive, it's just a name like bogan or stooge. Probably more in common with stooge to be fair. Fucken stooge. Fucken Drongo. Yeah.

That's one thing about Australian culture, there's a lot of name calling and nobody gets offended by it. You could be the best person in the world and your friends will still call you a cünt.

honestly, i think it's more a case of people having negative connotations with words.
i believe people should work harder to identify and rid themselves of unhelpful connotations with words.
    "isolation camp"
doesn't have to mean anything remotely unpleasant. people's brains are just thinking "concentration camp" "nazi" "cruelty" "dehumanisation"
    but there's no inherent connection.

And everyone had a whole bunch of hotels empty, wouldn't have been too hard to move a bunch out of the nursing homes, to hotels in warmer drier parts of the country

    I think it's comments
”People who were going to die in two years anyway”, more so than any particular buzzword.
Having said that a little care in how ideas are presented can go a long way in how people perceive them. I mean I agree it is useful and often even best to try and view things dispassionately but I don't think it's reasonable to actually expect folks to do it in every circumstance. Unless they are scientists or philosophers, anyway.

By the same token, this has been explained before so I don't really know why people are still acting like anyone is saying we as a society shouldn't be concerned about their welfare.

    Ah ha

But that's part of the detective work

I say that because I know ahead of time once people are placed in nursing homes, they only average 6 months, 95% of them don't make it to 2 years, this is the case in all first world countries

Length of Stay in Nursing Homes at the End of Life

    That's why I said specifically 2 years

You notice no one asked "hang on a minute, why only two years?" or said "just because they are 80 doesn't mean there are in a nursing home"

Or another dozen responses they should have said, but didn't, which gives away how engaged they are in the subject, how much they actually care as opposed to how much they pretend to
