    My wife has a serious addiction to chai tea lattes.

    I did a search trying to find a good place for chair tea lattes, but the reviews for all the coffe houses are based on the smoke sold more than the drinks served...

    Any advice on the best place(s) for a good chai tea latte?

    Well, chai is usually served with milk here in the states. A chai latte would be a combination of chai tea and a latte (espresso and steamed milk) so it's a coffe/tea combination.

    Actually, it is Chai Tea (a tea spiced with several spices like cinnamon, cardamom, etc.) with steamed milk. Most of the coffeeshops in America serve it.

    Sounds like I had better have my wife pack some Chai Tea for the trip...

    Hmm.. I haven't heard of the actual name, but that might just be me or maybe it's called very differently here. Drinking milk in your tea is more a British habit than a Dutch one, although some people do it. When it's done, it's mostly normal english tea with milk. You could try buying normal herbal tea (most serve a wide variety of them) in a café and asking for milk (make sure they bring you fresh milk instead of the special milk you put in coffee.. unless you want that specific milk).

    To help you going:

    tea = thee (pronounced somewhat like 'tay')
    herbal thee = kruiden thee
    milk = melk
    cinnamon = kaneel
    cardamom = cardamom or kardamom

    Good luck!

    Here's a little something about Chai tea I dug up.

    Chai (pronounced as a single syllable and rhymes with 'pie') is the word for tea in many parts of the world. It is a centuries-old beverage which has played an important role in many cultures.

    Chai from India is a spiced milk tea that has become increasingly popular throught the world. It is generally made up of:
    • rich black tea

    • heavy milk
    • a combination of various spices
    • a sweetner
    The spices used vary from region to region and among households in India. The most common are cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and pepper. Indian chai produces a warming, soothing effect, acts as a natural digestive aid and gives one a wonderful sense of well being.

    Taken from this site. http://www.odie.org/chai/

    Now I'm in the mood for some Chai.
