Feel a bit bad here! Promise i'm not picking on you intentionally!! Hister has nothing to do with Hitler, in the 16th Century Hister was the French name for a region near the Danube River - its pure coincidence that its similar to Hitler. This is a common problem in translated material - as language drops out of use it is harder to correctly translate an item. Lets look at that particular Quatrain (Century 2, Quatrain 24). "Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers, The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister. Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn, When the child of Germany observes nothing." Pretty vague you have to admit that, and with the Hister link disproven it becomes even more so. You also have to look at the environment Nostradamus was born into. This was 16th century France. France was predominately Roman Catholic at this time, and Germany was undergoing Protestant reformation. This lead to a number of wars involving Germany in Europe. So its not really too hard to predict that sometime in the future there will be a major war involving Germany/Austria - and he would be inclined to predict that due to the state of affairs between his nation and Germany. I tell you now that I can quite safely predict that there will be other wars in the gulf over the next 100 or so years. In fact i'll do it now, and still beat Nostradamus' time frame. "Within the next 100 years there will be another war in the gulf region." - TheStoon Does that make me a great prophet?? Does it buggery, i've looked at the situation and made a statement that appears more than likely - and without any of Nostradamus' vagueness. I guess what i'm saying is that once you look really closely at the prophecies you'll see that out of the 1000 or so he wrote, most are shaky, the ones that even come close are vague and need to have a lot read into them. I reckon anyone could make up 1000 predictions today and a good percentage could be interpreted to fit events over the next 400 years. I'm not even going to start on the bible! TheStoon
im pretty sure nostradamus, in his prophecies, took it upon himself to seperate the ages into sections.... also abpout the 3rd antichrist, Mabus, i do think it was Saddam [can be made with anagrams]...i mean -from the middle east -fell from power -there is gonna be a power struggle most definitaly -and how ong is america gonna stay in the middle east, soon there will be no way out, and other countries will have to do something... i think this is the eve...
Wasn't Hister the river Hitler grew up by? Its a double meaning. We also have to remember that Nostradamus had to be very careful about the way he worded certain things because of the excessive superstition of the sixteenth century.
Double meaning my arse, Hister would have been a violent area in those times, with no sign of that changing - and it didn't - not until at least the end of the 30 year war in the 17th century. Its a coincidence that 350 odd years later a guy from Austria called Hitler started a war. What if I said And it will rise from Scotland And cut across the throat. Could i claim that I foresaw someone called Scott assasinating someone within the next 400 years? Maybe Scott will authorise an invasion of somewhere, and maybe it will be over a thin strip of land, cos thats the throat. Its ridiculous, no matter how many coincidences there are, it would be easy to repeat what he did - the difference between now, and the 16th century would be no one would take it seriously in the first place... of destruction...... Dont worry, the stoon has made it very clear that all the correct predictions Nostradamus made were just lucky guesses. I imagine that applies to all the correct prophecies made my all the various seers throughout history. So, it looks bad, but hey, we'll be fine.........nothing to worry about.
but just tell me then, WHY do SOME ppl desire it and others not??? Where does that desire come from and who gets the credt for it. IF you are taking credit for your own gifts it's kinda arrogant. Don't you think? cheers sorry that above link got screwed. JN 12:40 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/index.php?search=john 12:40&version=31
Take a look at the last line, "I would heal them". God gave us free will in the fact that the desire for him has to come within ourselves. When we release that desire, he will heal us. Desire is not a spiritual gift, rather human nature. If God had to first give me the desire to want to know him, without me having any say in the matter, no longer would there be the element of free will. People who lack understanding of biblical terms do so because they have not the desire for God, thus, they do not receive healing for spiritual blindness.
Lucky guesses, mistranslations, misinterpretations, reading into... that about sums it up! The observations that have appeared to come true are vague, and would be expected to fit some event that happens over 400 years of history, and can often be interpreted to fit more than one. If you observe the world situation right now, i'm sure you could make some propecies about the future which you could be fairly confident would come true. Secondly, these predictions can be interpreted in so many different ways. The Hister one is the perfect example. Originally it was claimed "Ooh - look Hister, looks like Hitler - its a sign i tells ya!!" as soon as it was pointed out "sorry guys, Hister the French name for an area beside the Danube", it was changed to "Ooh - look Hister, Hitler lived somewhere fairly near there - its a sign i tells ya!!". If thats what it REALLY meant, why wasn't it read like that originally? Thirdly, Hitler was born in Braunau, Austria, then moved to live in Passau, Germany, before moving back to Linz, Austria - after that it was Vienna, then World War I. Now, Passau is on the Danube River, so yes - he lived in the area, but he didn't grow up there, he lived there for two years when he was three years old. This is the third problem, if you clutch at so many straws you are going to get a hit. Finally, why are these prophecies never translated before they happen? Because they can't be, they have to be "fitted" to events that have already happened, and anything can be fitted to something if you look hard enough. Meh, i just don't see it myself. Although this was pretty funny, shows you the logic people use when interpreting these things..I really hope its a parody, but i sense it isn't. http://alumnus.caltech.edu/~jamesf/pentium.html TheStoon
