I don't think so. Where in earth are you getting the 6 month from?

The plan is to go with what we know. We know if we let normal life go on the healthcare system and personnel get overwhelmed and care will be lacking and an unneccesary amount of people will die.
Since this is a fairly unique situation nobody knows everything, yet there still are experts in particular fields that make sense on what and why people should do in order to keep us as a society dealing with this virus as best as possible.

You don't have to be concerned about yourself. If you don't follow the news and so (apparently) miss the real reason why self quarantine is the way to go now, that's one thing. After all people have been explaining it on here as well. But calling it in earnest a deliberate scare attempt of the media, while its an official message of the officials and government... :p I assume you're just 'having some fun'

Those are not the things why we have to temporarily self isolate though. You're leaving that part out.

We may have the best healthcare in the world (tho it seems like all the doctors are from India or Africa) but we dont have the best healthcare system at all. I wouldn't even call it a system

So, like when Macron announced a 15 day lockdown, you believed him? You think thats all the kind of time frame needed?

    How long did Rutte say?

Scotty from Marketing said 6 months on the TV last night, I wanted to pat him on the head, oh, aren't you cute, so naive

Meanwhile in Aus, we had our states close off borders for domestic travel for all but freight/transport and those that have to cross borders to work

I found myself wondering why the fuck anyone would go to South Australia except for those things

Looks like no school for a while in the state of Victoria. The Victorian Premier will be making an announcement in 5mins.

The different states and territories of Australia are all on different sites pages presently. Not having a uniform, nationwide policy makes it all a bit confusing.

Totally perplexed how they are going to enforce all this. The whole country has 30,000 soldiers, 70,000 cops only 2/3 of which aren't fat 50 something's that have been sitting around a desk for 20 years

So say about 70,000 able bodied enforcers

    ..... for 25 million people

    1 for every 357 civilians

    ???

Think this might just turn into one big joke before it actually does get serious

I’m sure we can find some civilians that love to dictate terms to others to unofficially police a lockdown.

Weird, US new cases just went down to 8147 cases, it said 13,000 a couple hours ago. And they report 9am west coast US time so it's not a different day

Yeah, but that will take a month, government won't be able to move fast enough, and they wont give the new rent a cops the powers they really need. Shit could turn south overnight, no way the government will be ready

Those Sudanese gangs in Melbourne will be the first to play up, you'd need 10,000 cops just for that

Well, if they cant even lock down one beach

"Sydneysiders have been seen continuing to flout government and police guidelines, hopping over a barrier at Bondi Beach.

Photos show police on horse back still working to control crowds around the beach, and lifeguards on the sand patrolling and moving people off the sand on Sunday. The photos come after the beach was closed on Saturday after thousands of people packed the beach on Friday, ignoring pleas from health authorities and the government not to unnecessarily gather in groups of more than 500, and to practice social distancing wherever possible to stop the spread of coronavirus."

"A video shared to Twitter yesterday by ABC journalist Leigh Sales showed crowds of people happily enjoying themselves on the now closed Bondi Beach."
