My DREAM laptop (wanted!!!)

hurrray!! I'm gonna get me a new laptop. Here's a description of my dream laptop of fantasy. if Any of ya'll have something similar to it please send me a PM. I could drive a great distance for the right machine at the right price. And I plan on paying in cash.

IBM/PC (sorry macs are cool but too damn slow)
p4 or better
100-200 gig hard drive
512 mb dedicated video card
1+ gb sd ram
dvd +/- rw
photoshop, illustrator, premiere or fcp, indesign, quarkXpress, word, money, etc. etc. etc!

Also, anyone have ideas for the best way to transfer my hard drive with all my crap into the laptop?? Burn dvds? Something faster?

Mmmm, they make 200 GB HDD's for laptops?

I wouldn't rely on getting a huge laptop harddrive; go find you an external harddrive on Overstock or Pricewatch.

set up a network w/ like cat5e gigabit eithernet
and u'll have it transfered in no time.

 

transfering files, go with a simple home network.

or a crossover cable, available most at compter store.
But i'd reccommend just the home network.

I don't think i've ever seen a laptop with a hd that big.
and a 512MB vid card? does such a thing exsist?

pplease remember blokes this IS my dream laptop of fantasy. It may or may not exist but that doesnt' really concern me at this moment.

 

I've only seen one 512mb gfx card, and it was fucking huge, no way it would ever fit in a laptop, not to mention it cost a little over a grand, and didn't even have the best performance compared to various nvidia cards...
It's the 3Dlabs wildcat or something like that.

 

My dream one has a 311' monitor, with a 4 terrabyte hardrive, 57 gigs of ram, 9gig video card, and an eithernet adapter that runs at the speed of GOD!

that's true and excellent advice. what about a dvd burner? should i spend 200$ and get it built in or buy the best/fastest external machine out there (maybe w/2.0usb or firewire ports. Q: Why make a computer that doesn't have firewire??) also how much a bitch to set up wireless crap? pay to have it built in?

I can not believe how lucky I am. I just got a really sweet toshiba s331. HUGE screen. Well made. AND, get this, wireless internet is ALREADY working! That's right friends I'M NOT HOOKED UP TO DIALUP! I'm even downloading software faster than ever. AND it's freeeeee. This is unbelievable. Happy Christmas Sunday.
