I've had a lot of dreams where I'm almost dead, but this week I had a dream where I actually died and felt what that felt like, then I went on to another life. Has anyone else died in a dream, and what does it mean?

Did you feel the death coming on like, was it drawn out and could you feel what it was like to be dead?

Yeah, I've died in numerous dreams. Those are my most favorite dreams, actually. I feel that there is no kind of dream that explores one's subconscious more than a dream in which you die, because that plumbs what you think lies beyond death.

I have died in dreams by snakebite, dismemberment (in a satanic ritual!), gunshot, nuclear holocaust... you name it.

I find that in dreams where I die, I usually feel some fizzy feeling of my body letting go (or in the case of the nuke thing, being vaporized away), and then I realize that I am still there, conscious, thinking, seeing... and that tells me that I'm dead and free of my physical bonds, so it's a liberating experience. :)

I think that dying-dreams probably mean different things to different people; but since we ALL don't know what comes after we die, I think that a common theme of most of them would be curiousity or fear of the unknown, and a desire to achieve calm, understanding and reassurance about what will happen to us when we die.

I usually connotate dying with rebirth and/or significant change when dreaming. But most of the time, it just scares the crap outta me.

I've had a dream where my skull was caved in with a baseball bat and I died. The guys were bashing my head in and I was flinching my leg with every blow. When I woke up my leg was flinchinh and I felt my head fuse back together in an instant!, and it felt like when your leg falls asleep, kinda like pins and needles. Damn! It was really an odd feeling. But, I couldn't begin to tell you what it means to die in a dream?

yeah,...I agree. A re-birth, a change, a new direction. But a major change of direction!
At least, for me that was true!? I took a positive road during that change. But it is so much more complicated too! It depends on the individual and what is going on in his/her life. I agree w/ you TSS

I've never actually died in a dream I always wake up right before it or during my death. It feels weird because dreams come from your mind so you really are connected. As far as if you die in you dreams do you actually die its not happened yet but your body can go into shock from it.

I haven't gone into shock yet, I just wake up with a 'weird' feeling? I think your brain has a safety mechanism for something like that. It makes sense to me that it would.

i had a giant cockroach rip off my head and show my head my body.. limp and lifeless before he started to eat it.
"aaah shit you fucking killed me! bastard!"

then he tossed my head on the floor and i watched as he went to the window and flew off.
    "now what?"

my head just laid there and watched the sun come up from the west in the dream

I die in my dreams a lot, it's always nice though... not nightmarish or anything. I like it when it happens, there's always something interesting afterwards and I just go on. I wish I was that certain of an afterlife when I'm awake!
