Weird.... Just now I was actually having a conversation with my friend about how "The Crucible" was actually a protest against McCarthyism... Yeah, I didn't know he was alive, either.
he was only 33 when he wrote "death of a salesman" I always thought he had passed on a long time ago..... I feel stupid now. the man used to have a relationship with marilyn monroe, even.
Yeah, I thought Kurt Vonnegut was dead... but turns out he is alive. ...and I live in Indianapolis, his hometown. I guess great authors have unusually long lives. Either that, or we assume that they were old when they wrote their books...
I remember when that show "remote control" on mtv used to have a category called "alive or dead" , I think it was..... that was funny! they would say "beatrice arthur" and the contestant would say "dead" and they would be wrong. oops! haha.
I was always curious to see how he would die. I wrote a paper on death of a salesman and predicted that arthur miller would commit suicide the same way willie loehmann did. you don't write about suicide specifics even in fiction without thinking about it. How did arthur miller die?
theres a great site-can't recall the address, but it's called 'caskets on parade'-should be able to find it thru that name-pages & pages of obits, kept fairly well up to date & pretty accurate. he died from being 89 years old. heart attack. never liked him. over rated. but hey, he did bang Marilyn, so there you go.
