i think the o.p. makes an excellent point about what christianity has forgotten. it threw christ under the bus when it cannonized saul of tarsus (the so called 'saint' paul, for anyone who might not understand what i'm talking about). and what he actually realized on demascus road. which was that by attacking peace and love overtly, he was only strengthining its resolve.
his mission was to neutralize the treat of peace and love, to an empire and a kingdom that was built on war, and there is no greater threat to an empire that is built on war, then peace and love.
so what changed wasn't his mission but his method. he realized he was beating his head against a wall the way he was trying to do it, so he realized what might work was to sabotage the early christianity from the inside, by identifying himself with, and then subverting it. jezabelle may have been the real first return of christ, and that would make so called saint paul, the real antichrist.

the real root of evil is the desire to be feared, and the real cause of human suffering is the hatred of logic.
there may be one god or a billion gods, but whatever else there is, doesn't change that,
nor do whatever god or gods there are, owe anything to what people tell each other.

every time we call hate, or causing harm to someone for not sharing our own beliefs, an act of goodness, we are again "killing" christ, and every other person, who may have been told by those same gods or god, to preserve and promote a thought, that might help to discourage bullying, again.
