No. Longevity is an excellent indicator of longevity. The strength of muscles is and excellent indication of the strength of muscles. Longevity and the strength of muscles are simply different characteristics. The question of what characteristics are subjectively more desirable is apart from the question of whether there are gender based differences in characteristics

One of the funniest people I know is a woman. She'll make comments so dry that ten minutes later I'll realise what's she's done and crack up laughing.
But......
She very much the exception. You only have to look around you to see men are generally funnier than women.
I agree with the theory that it's to do with men competing for women and women enjoy being laughed into bed.

 

By in large, men are funnier. But that doesn't mean that women can't be funny too.

In evolutionary biology and the science of courtship and love, it makes sense that men evolved to be funnier to increase his sexual market value to attract a female. A man can be handsome as hell, aesthetically perfect, and an eye catcher. But if he's boring and socially awkward, he's got no chance in keeping a woman interested. Laughter is the way to a woman's heart.

What seems off about this theory is that men and women on average have different sense of humour. So, I agree men in general are funnier because they on average make more jokes i find funny. But yes, what I find funny is not objectively funny, it remains subjective.

How many times have YOU been on stage? How many standing ovations have YOU received? How many drinks have established comedians bought YOU because they think YOU have talent? How many times has a promoter told you they booked YOU for 45 minutes because they know you're good for it? Literally every female comedian is funnier than every man posting in this thread.

I think there is weight to the meta-analysis. If I were to speculate as to reasons why, I think it's because men are generally more physically imposing, so humor can be a way for a man to disarm people to let their guard down. Self-deprecation seems to work better for men than women, which if we're ascribing to the sexual market idea would make sense, as most women don't really have to deal with that.

The politically correct climate of the past decade has diluted comedy in recent years, and most millenial comedians have kowtowed to that so it has basically lowered the bar for comedy.
