I also discovered something years ago. It was cold and I figured wearing socks to bed would help, but it actually made things worse as my feet sweat and it caused them to retain it making them even colder.
I have 2 thick blankets to keep me warm and cozy underneath, so barefoot it is, regardless of season.
I can't wear socks, somehow they come off during my sleep without me realising it until I wake up in the morning. So I have to wear some nylon hold up / thigh high stockings, they've never ever come off during sleep.
When camping I do tend to keep socks (and a hat) on, but at home (with walls replacing canvas) = Barefoot for me
I'm exactly the same way - the only time I'll wear socks to sleep in is when I'm cold weather camping.
The amazing invention that is called central heating allows me to be in my underwear in my apartment when its -30 outside
