so, if this study is correct, the lack of oxygen to the brain, in a serious case, could kill brain tissue?

I know this has already been mentioned, but who seriously has the time to smoke 50 joints a day?

Well, first off, as everyone says: "50 joints!" What a joke. If they would just do legitimate studies using real amounts and strengths and people, not monkeys, they might be taken more seriously. I remember a study done back in the day (I wonder if anybody can find it?) where they studied the Jamacian people for long term effects and couldn't find any, except the conclusion that it aided the Jamacians in doing (or enjoying it more) manual labor. Supposedly, they were a good study group because they have been using pot for generations and going so far as giving it to babies to still their crying. Can anybody verify this?

(oh, and BTW, if the posted study was true, my head would have exploded a long time ago. HaHa)

not to be rude, but that's kind of an ignorant statement. jamaicans in general don't all smoke marijuana, you know. a lot of jamaicans don't like the fact that people think this. many jamaicans don't fit the image of "pot smoking rastas" and bob marley that's been projected into mass media as the definition for a typical jamaican.

Well, I was asking if anybody could verify it. I'm just going by memory, which could be very faulty.[IMG]Seriously, no harm intended. Sorry you were offended.

they studyed jamaicans who smoke pot and they studyed jamaicans who did not. so they could compair the two groups there is nothing wrong with saying they studyed jamaicans.

I read an article just like that a couple weeks ago. they labelled heavy smokers as people who smokes 150+. light smokers we 1-50 joints per week. those are the real numbers that i see all the time.

50 joiunts a day would amount to one about every half an hour if you didnt sleep. And of course, people sleep, so lets say you sleep 8 hours a night and are awake the rest of the day. It would come out to a tad bit over 3 joints an hour if you slept 8 hours a day and were awake for the other 16. A joint every 20 minutes. The persons tolerance would be so high that they couldnt even get high.

One thing that you guys are forgetting is that in Europe, joints aren't just rolled with herb. They are mixed with tobacco. While I don't do that (I am from the states), I am curious as to how much tobacco is mixed in. I know it differs according to taste, but on average, how much tobacco do you mix in?

If they are mixing in anywhere close to 50% tobacco, and the herb is Jamaican (similar to the mex shwag in the states), it is possible to smoke that much in a day, even though it would STILL be too much.

That study is obviously flawed. Nothing more to say. You don't have to be a doctor or scientist to figure that one out! Even the stoners with their decreased oxygen and increased blood flow are on to ya! :)
