smokin bud and givin blood

alright, so i have the opportunity to give blood in about a week... but i have a couple questions about it because i smoke bud... so do they even want my blood because i smoke MJ? and, once they get someones blood they run it though all these tests and things such as HIV, AIDS, Hep A and B, and 13 different STDs... but would bud show up in my system? because if you come up positive for any of these things, they dont use your blood and they send a letter to you explaining why... the lady that came and talked to us didnt say anything about smoking marijuana and giving blood and i wouldnt want the letter to say "your blood is contaiminated with MJ" or something. they say the letter is "confidental" but if they send it to your house, your mom or dad could damn well open it if they please and i dont wanna get in trouble!... so does anyone know the story on this?

i donated blood while high one time, they took the blood and i didnt hear anything back from the red cross complaining about my blood.

 

i wouldn't, just in case. our student council is having a blood drive in a while too, i should consider donating. pwah, i hate having needles all wedges up inside of my veins; it feels all nasty and squishy.

it will be perfectly fine. i looked this up once on the red cross website. it specifically said that marijuana is not a problem unless you're high at the time of donation. i say do it, and then get high. i've wanted to try giving blood and then getting high because you'd probaby get high a lot easier. more people should give blood. i think you have to be 17 though.

and about the whole age thing, in illinois you can be 16 and give blood, but you have to have a parental consent!!

 

i think the issue of being high is only one caus of the changed blood flow too

but i dont want to give blood because ive got the msot common blood type and i dont want to loose my fear of big needles going into my forearm

anyway, like I said before, my mother used to work for a blood bank and they WILL test it for THC and they WILL throw it out costing money and time to get clean materials to take your blood in the first place and dispose of your contaminated blood after it's tested

you suck for being so irresponsible. Do yourself a favor and grow up. Why would you put someone else at risk. Sure it's just pot, but what if you had had cancer? Oh well, I'll just lie and give my blood anyway.

I don't know who told you they don't check the blood for THC. THey test that shit over and over for everything. They have to. I feel safer knowing that they do.

well heady, im just confused because well, many of my friends have giving blood and they smoke, and they didnt get a letter back because their blood wasnt used...because they always give a letter back if your blood was not used.. my parents blaze, and my sister gave blood, and shes always around them smoking (but she wasnt) and she got her donor card... but as a said in the womens forum, im going to call them tonight and ask, just to make sure.. im not saying you are wrong, i just want to get the fact straight...

and im sorry i posted the same thread twice, i put it in here, and noticed i wasnt gettin a whole lot of replies, and i knew that the womens forum usually gives really great solutions and replies, so i put it in their too... big deal though, this one went straight the second page anyways!

what part of illinois are you in? sorry if we've been over this, terrible memory. i ask because our school is having a blood drive as well, but i don't know if my dad is gonna let me! he says i'm too young...which seems like bullshit! anyone know of any reason i couldn't spare a bit of blood because i'm 16? thanks!

Well I give blood every few months when my school has a blood drive. And I smoke a small amount almost daily. I've never gotten a notice saying they couldn't use my blood. I say give blood. I really don't think it would affect the recipient. Once I asked about having alcohol in the blood, and they said it didn't matter, that they put it through some kind of machine that spins it or something, and it breaks up the alcohol molecules. Or something like that.... dude where's my pipe?

 

in the entire state of IL you can give blood if you are 18 if you have the consent that the red cross gives out... look in the phone book for the number!

after you give blood, start drinkin...you'll feel like its 9th grade all over, and you;'re a 2 beer queer again because you're missing a pint of blood so you get drunk real fast
