Ring worms and head lice are the big issues with kids. There's no way to stop them from spreading them, because the little ones are the ones that have the worst problems with everything, including colds. However, I definitely think its a possible option. I went barefoot for four years as a kid in Hawaii, nothing but a pair of shorts, but I still wore shoes to school. People are just rather crowded and young, and I don't know all the epidemiology, but kids should come with warning labels.

South Africa. Some are barefoot, others wear shoes. It should be free choice

But the author of the photo said that at higher grades they all wear shoes. I still can't understand the reason, why they put shoes on when they become older. Another strange thing i noticed is that at low forms many kids kick off their shoes during the lesson, under the desk, but they usually stop doing it at high school

It looks rather awkward having those few boys with their shoes and socks on.

Hi, I left school in 1986, we could choose footwear or not for general indoor p.e. but it was bare feet for gymnastics.
