The other night Xander was nursing when he suddenly popped off the booby with this big surprised grin. Then he pointed to the boob and exclaimed "ilk!" (milk) "ilk, ilk, ilk!!!" guess he just figured out what's in there.Too cute.

I love this. When they realize that it isn't just a given and they acknowlege it.

    Sweet, so sweet.

    How old is Xander now?

My babies used to say "nummie num" and other things.

At one point Sage was calling it "Mina mina." She was about a year old. I thought she was saying Nummie Nummie funny. My dh pointed out (Sage is the 4th of four kids) that every time she asked to nurse during the day, I would say, "In a minute."(mina mina.) I felt SO bad.

He turned 2 the end of January, and he's over 3 feet tall! Big big boy. It's also just so cool he's talking,he didn't say anything except mama until he was 23 months, now he's talking like crazy. He counts to 11,knows most of the alphabet and all his colors. He is a delight.

It's a great age! My dh always says between one and three are his fav ages for babies. And so much easier to parent when they are still nursing, IMO. I was always happy to catch those mood spirals and nurse them out of the baby at this age. You can just see it coming, and when they nurse, it is like instant attitude adjustment (and if they are tired enough, maybe even a nap!)

I love talking to babies this age. They say the cutest things. I heard somewhere that during this "Language Explosion" some babies are learning a new word every 44 minutes. That's so cool. They may not use them all at once, but they are stored in their brains for later. Toddlers are amazing human beings. I miss having a toddler in the house.

When was Xander's b-day? My Virginia turned two on Jan 27th. She is such a ham right now! She can recite all these songs...twinkle, twinkle, the barney song, abc's, several sesame street songs (journey to ernie, elmo's world), and jesus loves me. She can sporatically count when she wants to. And loves acting grownup! She has a little phone that she talks with and she holds it up on her shoulder with her head so her hands are free! It is the cutest thing ever! I've been recording all her little baby-talk words because she is getting better every day and I don't want to miss it.

Write down those words! You will love to see it when they are big. One day, when Sunshine was about your babies age, I followed her around, and wrote down everything she said, in order, for nearly an hour. I counted the words and how she used them, and kept it in her baby book. It is so sweet to see the things she used to say (man, the kid asked for "juicy" a lot!)

I didn't get to do it with the other kids as I didn't have the time. But I wish I had.

    What a fantastic age.

Xander was 2 on the 24th of January. This is such a magical age, even with the temper. Boys are so different than girls,or he's just different from Kali,I'm not sure which.
