did you all become Christian? were you born into it [sort of]? or if not, how did you find Him? who introduced you? im curious
I WAS Christian, but then after ccd and confirmation, i decided to disown the religion. my mom only put me through that shit so i could get married in a church or something. I dont like what that religion teaches or what it stand for. And generally speaking, a lot of christians are stuck up assholes.
I was born and raised Catholic. In fifth grade I transfered to another school and began to learn about modern Christianity (*looks at JesusDiedForU*... he knows what school I am speaking of). After my sophomore year, I transfered to a Lutheran high school. While I strongly believed in the Lord and prayed, I was not right with the plan of salvation according to his word. Upon attending my current church in October of 2004, I was baptised in Jesus name and filled with his Spirit. I do not call myself a, "Christian". Christian referes to people like President Bush.
Regarding religion, no one is *born* anything... becoming X, Y or Z is based on the environment you're brought up in... obviusly, if you're in a christian household, then it's more than likely that you'll choose a path with god (although this is not guranteeded - I know a few people who were raied in a christian household, and as a result have become fullyfledged athiests). I personaly find that most christians (and other religous folk) are either rasied in a religous environment... or, in times of weakness, turn to religion for comfort.
You mean fascist idiot chimps? haha anyways, I was born into a Catholic home, raised in it, schooled in it...but at age 16 I rejected it, became an atheist, then a few years later learned about Buddhism and other Eastern religions, and found them much more sensible.
oh, I forgot to add my own story... My family are not in anyway religious, but, due to this being a Christian country, with out head of state being the head of the church of England, Christian values are a part of everyday life... (although don't go jumping for joy that the UK is a holy place, far from it, we're a very LIBERAL country, and view it more as guidance, not rules). Anyway, I was christened into the Church of England.. not because we're religious, but because it was the done thing.. my parents were married in a CoE church (again, not because they are religious, but because it's the traditional dream wedding).. I used to be a member of a local scout group, and once a year, on St. Georges day, we'd always have a parade down the high street, when ended in the church for a sermon - which I always found INCREADBLY BORING!!! We also used to sing hymns in school assembly, and we used to have a prayer at the end of all scout meetings.... but it all seemed so POINTLESS to me. I don't know why, but I've just never been a believer, but then, at the same time, I'd never really thought about it, until this past 5 years or so, at one point I was very depressed (in a state of weakness, as I described above), looking for comfort and answers - and I very nearly become a spiritualist - but luckily for me, I found MYSELF, and ever since I've been on the up. It's been within the last 6 months or so that I decided for myself that god does not exist, but even though in myself I know this, I'm not so bold as to claim I know all the answers in the universe.. so I'm not an 'atheist'. but rather an 'agnostic atheist' - I also have pagan leanings.. but that's another story. Anyway, that's how I went from Christianity to what I am now - an Agnostic Atheist Eclectic Pagan (who takes his teachings from many sources).
ya...what i emant by "born into it" was the kind of thing where they just always were sort of tihng...never questioning, never investigating...juts kinda following cause its whats expected/taught
I was baptised catholic when I was a baby, but now I am part of the "other" catergory, although I do agree with some aspects of christianity, but theres too many other religions for christianity to be the only one with valid points
LOL.. a friend of mine once suggested that she could almost imagine jesus at a party, his hordes of followers behind him, slowly trying to move away from them, towards the punch, saying "I'm not with them, OK.. they followed me in".
well.....my parents were Christian and i went along with it til i was a teen...rebelled and then when at my lowest felt God's presence and became a Christian. The short version...Roly.xxx
I was born into no religion at all. I studied different kids of religions but always felt that Christainity was the right one. I rebelled a bit when I was young and practised paganism, because a teacher once said to me "you might as well be christian because that's the only religion that will punish you if you don't beleive." I hated that theory. But I never really beleived there was a goddess. I like to celebrate nature, but not worship it. My boyfriends family is episcopalian. I accepted god that way, but I don't like to go to church or read the bible because I want my own personal relationship with god, not one someone is instructing me on. It's private for me. I share it with my loved ones, not strangers. that's how I came to god. not very interesting, but hey. At least I'm here.
